cool

I'll take Jose over any future pick in the 20's. You can site his ppg/apg all you want. You know damn well he makes a difference on this team, in a positive way that translates to winning. If Jose can do that while taking a few shots a game, and that means Hawkins gets to shoot more 3's, as well as the rest of our efficient guys, then that's a good thing.
WHy would I want Tyus Jones taking shots away from Hawkins, and Trey, and CJ, and Zion?

Tyus Jones is a terrible defender, and he isn't able to affect that end of the floor positively like Jose does, despite them both being the same small size.

AND HE COSTS 15 frickING MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR, WHICH IS BEYOND STUPID TO PAY TO A GUY WE DON'T WANT PLAYING MORE THAN 15MPG.
It's no different than paying a backup 5 $15M/yr if he's only going to play 15mpg. That would be stupid, unless your starter was a guy on a rookie contract.

We don't need a strong top 10. We need a strong 7, 8 tops. We need Zion to step and become Giannis like on offense, and we need Murray to take pressure off of him in the clutch, like how Middleton did for Giannis. Having CJ/Herb/Trey all be elite role players is important. What's needed after that is a big body 5, a backup 5, and another wing that can score/defend, and we had that guy in Naji and we shouldn't have let him go.
I said before the offseason started that i didn't think we needed Naji and Dyson, and 1 would go. It''s stupid that both are gone b/c now we have to find someone that can do what at least one of them could do off the bench, and for under $9M/yr

I guess I can add Jose ticket/ merch sales to the list of reasons to keep him.

If that's the "value" he has to us and y'all are ok with that > upgrading then we trully deserve to be a poverty franchise.

Mhm agree, that's why we should bring Heurter in to be our 8th-10th man off the bench.

So now we have:

Tyus is a terrible defender to the list.

And another money argument ignoring a Jose future contract.

- knowling traded or let go off Naji/ Dyson but Jose is just untouchable

Jose is a damn good player imo. He is matchup dependent in the playoffs, but he's a regular season game changer. I would not trade him for Tyus Jones. for our team, Jose is a better fit.

I've said that as well. We have 5 guys on the current roster, not including BI and Jose that can play legit playoff minutes. That's a problem.

well he is. Jose is not.

Just like how you keep ignoring the contracts of Pritchard and McConnell that i've told you several times, which i don't think Jose will even get as much as they do, just slightly under.

Nothing about my opinion of Jose vs Tyus has changed, but cool hip words you used there.

I agree Jose is a damn good player and hustler especially for the money. I disagree he is a better fit than Jones.

Its frustrating when I get such ridiculous feedback because now peolple may get the impression I don't like Jose or want him gone.

Its as simple as I want to win a championship and there isn't a player on our team I wouldn't trade to upgrade.

Right now Jose is the first one out after BI.

Even if he does stay and signs a small deal it doesn't change the fact that he would be the least valuable/ cheapest contract we have playing a limited role.

You can't say Jose has such little value that we can resign him for cheap while also arguing with me about upgrading PG or that we shouldn't.

Its legit insanity and I can't even compromise with that.

Even if you take Tyus out of the equation I still want to upgrade PG eventually knowing Jose isn't that guy.

The argument is either we don't have to upgrade or Tyus Jones isn't that guy.

The argument is NOT "we don't have to upgrade because Jose is that guy"

Saw this on bleacher report, Herro wouldn’t be bad if we can move CJ for a center. Under contract a few years and is a lot younger.

Would want a first with no protection though and a pick swap and someone other than Martin. Maybe one of their younger players to attach with CJ for a center.

Hellll no.

Why? Herro plays no D and who gives a shite about Caleb Martin.

I don't like Ingram but I'd trade him for Walker Kessler and salary filler before Herro.

For all the bitching about Huerter et all, Herro has a lot of the same issues. He can shoot you in or out of a game but can’t defend anything and plays positions we already have covered.

This is “trade for the sake of a trade” category.

I don't get that impression from you, and i get what you are wanting, i just don't agree with it at this time. I don't think paying someone twice what Jose will make next year, will have a big enough impact to justify it. Murray is the PG now. He's playing 34mpg. That means the backup PG is playing 14mpg. There's no need to spend a lot of money on that.

And i don't mean to be rude and aggressive with my responses to you. It's just me. I can be an arse, but i don't mean it personally or anything.
I appreciate your love for the Pels and getting to argue about it here b/c none of my friends give a shite about the Pels.

I defended BI a good bit, and people thought i was in love with him despite me saying repeatedly that i'm ready to trade him. I just didn't like how he was getting all of the blame and pepole ignored Zion's blame, and constantly cited CJ's "change" without acknowledging his role changed and was different than BI's.
Hell I can find posts of mine from years ago that say we will go as far as Zion and BI allow us to go, and when we reach the point where we don't think we can compete for a championship, then 1, or maybe both need to go. We're at that point with BI.

I’ve seen CJ tank two playoff series now, I’ve seen Herro take over playoff series, it’s part of the reason the Heat made deep runs. Hes just another 3 point guy to surround Zion with.

Just saying if they threw in a young guy like Jacquez I’d think about it. Jazz may bite on someone like him for Kessler.

This wasn’t my idea btw, and I don’t think the Heat have any interest in BI. There were rumors a couple years ago tho.

I wouldn't mind Herro if we didn't have CJ, and he was comign off the bench as a 6th man scorer. But we also have Hawkins for that role.

Hard no on Herro.

And Heurter is a much better defender than Herro. He's not great, but Heurter isn't a terrible defender. He's better than CJ is.
If you remember the Hawks in the playoffs, it was Huerter who was on the floor at the end of games, not Bogdanvich, b/c Huerter was the better defender.

He should not sniff ANY playing time in the playoffs if we're being honest.

As things stand, your minutes allocation should go something like this:
Total 240:

Guards:
Murray (38)
McCollum (32)
Jones (38)

Wings:
Murphy (36)
Jones here too

Big men:
Williamson (38)
Center (32)

Last part:
Divided betwen backup big man, wing defender, shooter depending on matchup (26)

Jose might give you a few minutes of energy, but it should not be more than 10 minutes considering you have 3 guys contributing to guard play.

And the only way to change this efficiently is with most to all SF/PF minutes split between Trey/ Herb/ Zion.

Then Jose would get more reserved minutes.

This is the route we should take and that I've held strong on.

If we go this route and give more PG minutes then we should upgrade those 20- 25min instead of giving them to Jose.

This is also the route I would take.

He's matchup dependent.
Against OKC he was very ineffective, as was everyone.

Against the Suns, he was effective.

ANd i've already said, i wouldn't count Jose as one of the main playoff contributors on this team. You need at least 7 of those guys, 8 ideally. We have 5 right now with BI going out.

I wish it at least had top 5 protections on it.
