Atlanta is also sending a Cleveland heavily protected first-round pick in 2020 to the Pelicans, league sources tell ESPN.
Oh frick
ETA - Read that wrong. I need a drink. Thought it said sending CLE a 2020 first.

I am confident he got the best value that he could. Maybe another move is forthcoming.
You know what value I would want in that deal?
The 4th pick.
frick Griffin, this move is shite.

He must have Another FA target or something. I don’t know why you do it before the pick though.

Cleveland's 2020 1st round pick to Atlanta protected for selections 1-10; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Cleveland will instead convey its 2021 2nd round pick and 2022 2nd round pick to Atlanta [Atlanta-Cleveland, 1/7/2017]
we have 2nd round picks from Cleveland and Washington coming out of our arse now.

So this will clear a bunch of cap space, yeah?
Yes Pels can now get to ~25 million in cap space

I can't believe that was the best offer Griffin could get. Terribly disappointed.

Wow....I know in griffin we trust but there’s not much to like there at all

So a second rounder.
Again, awful fricking trade.

Aren’t we supposed to have 19 already?

From the ATL-CLE trade, it's a protected top 10 in 2020 that becomes a 2021 second round pick and a 2022 second round pick.

That pick is going to become Cleveland’s seconds in 2021 and 2022 unless Cleveland makes the playoffs this year.

Dumping solo.
We have so many picks stashed, I don't see the value in 17 and 35 at all to be honest.
All I can think is Griff has a guy in mind he thinks will be there at 8. Even then, it felt like 4 had way more value.

There better be a second trade coming or another piece he’s going to sign. I don’t like this. The team isn’t winning this year. I’d much rather a 4th pick than a turner or any other piece.

They better be turning those right back around for a veteran.

We are getting a future 1st also.
Eta: im guessing two 2nds. Cleveland has no chance to finish outside the top 10.

For what? To spend in the most flush market since the Solomon Hill free agency?
I hope fricking not.
