July 2014 was the first time he was traded to the Pels, he didn't play any games for us and was waived.

Melli can play some 5 if we need him to

He can, but I'd add another center. Either bring back Okafor or get a defense and/or rebounding specialist. I lean towards Okafor because Jaxon hopefully takes a step forward with defense and rebounding this year. Okafor may only play in 30 games, but he will probably turn the tide in 3-5 of those games with his scoring.

Yeah, I'd bring Okafor back.

Just thought he was strictly a combo guard

He's sort of listed as PG/SG/SF and has played all 3 spots at times, but I do not think of him as a SF at all, he's just not big enough to cover a lot of those guys. I definitely see him as more of a combo guard.

Knicks are the favorites to sign Gordon Hayward if he opts for FA.

I guess Hayward is going be their point forward since they don’t have a reliable option at PG.

The New Orleans Pelicans will not extend a qualifying offer to Josh Gray,
@HoopsHype
has learned. Gray will become an unrestricted free agent. He spent last season as a two-way player for the Pelicans and averaged 22.5 points in the G League.

I forgot Gray existed and didn't expect to extend a QO to him.

I kind of hope we keep Zylan for the second two-way.

Zylan and Naji are two perfect wing project for the Pelicans. I’d be surprised if they don’t keep him.

Guys like Temple is good for the bench as they won’t require you to play them every night and will be ready whenever you put them in the game. These type of vets allow you to develop and play your youth but can still provide quality minutes if needed.

exactly. I made this point a week or so ago. It's nice to have a nice vet that will be a good mentor, and also one that knows he's not here to play, but can if called upon.

Good option at the 5 for us, he can space the floor

He'd be cheap and a decent short term fall back option for a few minutes. I think we get Baynes though.

Having fallback options are going to be real good for the Pelicans.

We should know about Hayward like any minute now, which will be one of the first big dominoes to fall.

It kind of helps when your front office knows talent and roster construction.

Walrus didn’t know talent and Demps’ roster construction was godawful.
