Nope they aren’t. Unlike the Pels, the Mavs have a smart coach who knows what’s at stake.
So i'm sure Alvin, at 64 years old, knowing he'll likely never be a HC again, is coaching to win his last few games.

Hopefully we get some good karma for actually competing in these games

Every other team is blatantly tanking. Not us. Nope.
We played 8 guys. All scrubs. Julius Randle was uniform and didn't see the court.

Honestly at this point I’m cool with a complete rebuild and that includes trading jrue. This is very reactionary but idc. I want Ja or Zion dammit AND Tatum

When you play Clark, Payton, and Okafor 35-40 minutes on a night they’re on fire, you aren’t. You could have done 30-35 and lost. Nope. You think Carlisle would play ANYBODY that efficient for 40 minutes? Nope. Never.

You can make a wonky lineup with a high chance of failing and manage the hot hands by taking them out.
Ian Clark can’t run the point worth a shite. So I’d have him playing the point late, take Payton who is actually decent out of the game.
Clark/Bertrans/Kenrich/Hill/Diallo lineup for the final 8 minutes

On the Gentry scale...what level of stupid is Carlisle for allowing that to happen?

trying to sprinkle some optimism in here, so here's a story
Long long ago in a season just like this one, a man named Monty Williams led the Hornets to a pointless late-season victory. Marco Belinelli hit a game-winner that moved the then Hornets from the 3th worst record to a tie for the 4th worst record. Fans of the team went on a forum, just like this one, to show how enraged, upset, perturbed, incandescent, & seething with frustration they were at such a preposterous display of sportsmanship. However, a month later in May of 2012, the unthinkable happened. First the Hornets by the flip of a coin won the 4th seed. But that was just the beginning. The ping-pong balls for that 4th seed bounced and bounced around, and the Hornets were awarded the #1 pick in draft to select Anthony Davis
7 years later, after 2 playoff appearances, 1 playoff series victory, AD forcing his way out of New Orleans, derailing an entire season, and one giant middle finger to the Smoothie King Center, can history repeat itself? You just got to #Pelieve
Lets go get Zion sons

Tuesday will decide it essentially. MEM/DET, DAL/PHO, WAS/BOS. Gonna need some unexpected wins.

I thought about buying season tickets tomorrow, was about 99% sure I was going to do it. Now I’m not sure if I can. I’m probably being overreactionary, but this has been a season from hell and the one thing I have enjoyed, which is watching our chances at a generational talent increase, just basically went to shite. Maybe, maybe we are hit with good karma. But I find it very hard to be positive or have any hope for this team going forward.

Why don’t you read or do some research and go look at the minutes played. No starter played more than 23 minutes for Dallas. If fricking Solo/Stanley Johnson/Diallo/Bertans/Wood pull it out late, oh well. So on the Carlisle scale, Gentry was a -5.

There’s way to much uncertainty to melt.
Fun fact, there is a 9% chance that #6 wins #1
BUT
There is an 18% chance that a team in the 7-9 spots win the #1 pick. You guys are freaking out over not getting 6th when it’s twice as likely that one of the other spots in our Tank Foursome gets it.
There’s even an 8% chance 10-14 land the #1, nearly the same odds as #6.

We ran a lineup out there of some dudes named Payton, Clark, Williams, Wood, Okafor, Diallo, Hill, and Bertans vs a team really fighting to win.
If Gentry was actually THAT good we wouldn't be blowing our franchise up this offseason.
And btw, NOT ONE of our wins this year have been as terrible as Carlisle winning that game tonight against that Memphis team in that spot.

I still can’t believe how idiotic and selfish you can be. You sacrifice the long term success of an organization for a meaningless win with guys who more than likely won’t be on the team next year. It’s disgusting!

I honestly don't believe one guy who played tonight will play a meaningful minute with a winning Pelican's team, and thats what pisses me off.
If this were a rookie AD or young Jrue leading us to these wins, i'd be fine because the future would look bright. But not one of these guys will be here the next time the Pelicans are good again, imo.
So congrats to Ian on getting himself another minimum deal somewhere...I guess?

Sorry, but this was a terrible, terrible win. It’s not just the odds for #1. We go from a 37% chance of a top 4 pick (Zion, Ja, Culver, Barrett) to a 20%. We are now like a 75% chance to pick 9 or 10. This was just awful. Melting is valid.

I sound insane? Gentry played 3 starters heavy minutes on a night they were performing extremely well. Dallas is starting all of their scrubs too but they’re finishing games with their super scrubs. Stop defending this shite. You’re sounding like one of those people who will defend everything someone or something they like does, even when they frick up.

Everyone melting about this W is insane 100% agreed.
The Pels literally have a lineup of castoffs on the floor. The team is trying to tank. Unless you’re Hinkie 76ers level bad or the Nets from earlier this decade, it’s kinda hard to tank efficiently. You have a bunch of guys playing for their next contract. Diallo and Okafor aren’t thinking heading into the game “if I shoot a bunch of contested 2s and go 1-12 from three, FO will really reward us for throwing the game!” They have 29 other NBA teams looking at the tape come July wondering how Player X can help better their bench/starting lineup/match up with a division rival/ etc..
The Pels are trying to lose by sitting players and trotting out bad lineups, they can’t make the Kings play defense.

Fk it, if we get stuck at the 8/9 spot. All in for Keldon Johnson
