Shannon Selberg of Cows (Minneapolis) probably had more junk in his veins than blood. He actually had to sit down on the stage at one point.

El Duce of the Mentors was trashed ALL the time.

I've heard other stories but those are the two that stood out that I've seen.

Worst ones were Taking Back Sunday at Riot Fest in 2022 (dude could hardly stand without tripping over himself) and Unwritten Law at Santos in 2023 (lead singer was clearly 3 hand grenades deep. Dude looked like he might have been blacked out on stage).

Mastodon in 2013 at Heavy Montreal - Brent Hinds was drunk but still playing decently. Apparently this was quite common for him and he would get into fights with the sound guys.

Dragonforce 2006 - not for the entire show, but at the end both guitarists were very sloppy and even had to restart a song

Replacements at U of Houston in about 1982. They were all drunk, tried to play a couple of songs , got in a big fight with each other and walked off the stage.

Kevn Kenny of Drivin ‘n Cryin is always drinking beer during the shows. In early ‘22 at Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville though, he was more than a few sheets to the wind. He botched the lyrics at one point in one of the songs and the other guys just had a good laugh about it. He was still playing quite well though.

To his credit, the last time I saw them in Greenville a year and a half ago they were just a three-piece without Laur on guitar, and he seemed quite sober. Figured that’s because he knew he had no margin for error.

Afghan Whigs at the Howling Wolf—Thanksgiving, 1997. Dulli came out hours late, was coked out of his mind, disappeared from the stage multiple times, yet still managed to channel a furious crowd into a manic frenzy by the end of the night.

From my understanding, I think it’s their most notorious show.

GnR w/ Soundgarden opening in 1991-ish. I think it was downtown BR. The bassist for Soundgarden was so hammered he could barely stand, much less play. When GnR finally came on after an extended delay, Axel and Slash were smashed. Probably worst show I've seen and I was a huge Soundgarden fan at the time.

SRV and Eddie Money. Spring break S Padre Island, 1986 or 87. Neither could hardly stand up on stage.

Saw the lead singer from that shi÷÷y group Living Colour so hammered that he walked off the stage (which was easily a 7-8 foot fall) in Indianapolis in '89 when they were opening for the Stones. Busted his ankle and forehead up.

I wasn't there but a girl I worked with went to a George Jones concert and it went just the way he was known for at the time. She said he didn't show up until almost an hour late, tried to sing a song but was so plastered he wasn't coherent and then they carried his drunk arse off the stage.

They did refund people's money at least

Jane's Addiction. Lollapalooza 1991 Dallas. The entire band. Dave nearly fell off the stage several times.

Went to the EHG/Crowbar 20th anniversary show in 2009. Mike from EHG was so high he passed out after the first song and had to be carried off stage. The rest of the band finished the set as an instrumental. It was still cool.

Foghat with Starz 1979
Lead singer for Starz was drunk and fell off stage and injured himself.
Starz didn't perform.
Foghat played 3 hours!

December 2004, Vegas, David Allen Coe.

Played small snippets of 30 or so songs, then stormed off, stage right.
