Charges to his lacarte card were suspicious and flagged. Triggered an audit of purchases. Alcohol cannot be purchased with a state issued credit card. All purchases must be itemized for reconciliation. The alcohol and other items were listed as room rentals on the bank statement. Therefore someone falsified the invoice. Alcohol can be purchased through a foundation. A separate route that does not require the lacarte card. This was not a simple clerical error. He was able to resign but stay employed until the end of the fiscal year. Any other person would have been terminated. I’ve seen loyal employees with many years of service let go during the budget crisis. Most were give less than 24 hours notice. This guy got off easy. Those taking up for him are friends and have little understanding about the guidelines, requirements and reconciliation of charges to state issued charge cards. I saw him on the local news yesterday. A PR tour. The reporter asked no tough questions. Par for the course. The have done zero investigative reporting on the 50 million dollar budget deficit

Highlands area
Bryson City area (near Smoky Mountains)
Blowing Rock (Northeast of Ashville)

We will be in the area mid-July
Not likely. Texas has strict guidelines for aggravated crimes. He will need to complete 50% before parole eligibility. Most likely, will be denied parole on his first hearing (even with good behavior). Victims family will be notified before parole hearing and allowed to talk to the parole board. I just went through this process.
Most likely, he will be sent to the Ferguson unit. This is where they send 1st time youth offenders. It's a notorious "gladiator" farm, known for violence. Hard to accumulate any good behavior in a element where you need to fight (literally) for survival.

Agree. We stayed at the Harbour Cottage Inn in Southwest Harbor. Bar Harbor is just on the other other side of Acadia NP, an easy drive. We did some day trips into BH. That was plenty for us. Very busy and touristy.

Joe Cabot asks Mr. White (Harvey Keitel) about Alabama in Reservoir Dogs. A reference to the character in True Romance.

Not sure how far you are willing to travel. Aspen/Snowmass is about 3 hours from Denver. Lodging in Aspen is pricey. You can find decent rentals in Snowmass Village. The Maroon Bells and Driving Independence Pass are worthy day trips. Go early in the morning to see wildlife. We had a moose run beside our vehicle driving up Independence pass. The Views along the pass to the Continental divide are spectacular. You can also go online a secure a parking pass for Maroon Bells (avoid the shuttle). We went in July last year. Morning lows were in the upper 40"s.
Atlas is typically fairly reliable. However, this poll is suspect. It has the Dems +15 in the generic poll and AOC as +4 as the dems presidential candidate.

Chris says hold my beer. Inexperienced, lack of planning and just plain stupidity.
