Never understood the love for Springsteen.
I'm can't judge as I like wook hippie music like the Dead, BMFS, etc.
But music is so personal... if you grew up in the 70s and lived in Jersey, you probably had lots of good memories with the soundtrack of Springsteen.
It's the same thing for me w/ the Allman Brothers. I liked the 90s version way better than the original. I know that's fricking absurd, but I love Dickey's guitar sound of the 90s. And that's when I was coming of age... so I have lots of 90s live Allmans in my earlier life.

Read Bruce’s early lyrics, like from Asbury Park through Born to Run.
He does a great job of describing a scene where you feel like you’re there.
I’ve never thought Bruce was a great vocalist, but he’s a really great lyricist.
Kiss is a spectacle, like going to a Broadway show. Just listening to the music doesn’t really do it justice. It’s just silly music about sex, but the arena show is something else.

It always amazes me how people allow their hatred of a person wrongly define their criticism of him. Dude, I can't stand EV; he's an insufferable prick, but saying he is not a good vocalist is empirically untrue. He switches ranges mid note on a dime without pause or breath. He does some incredible things with his vocal cords to create different resonances. Once you separate the man from the talent you will see how wrong you are.
PJ is not overrated either. They fundamentally changed the music scene in the 90s, and they constantly innovate with each album. While personally I am not a big fan, I recognize them for what they are.

If Lars Ulrich is killed in the bus crash that robbed Metallica of Cliff Burton, the band is not nearly as well-known nor has sold as many records, today.
This is much, much more to do with Ulrich's business acumen than his drumming, but I feel it is so.

Had Cornell or Staley been as politically outspoken or tangled with Ticketmaster, Soundgarden or Alice in Chains will be ranked in Pearl Jam's place.
