Look i'm not the one getting all emotional over it. I think you want me to care.

Oh so you're doing the Trump thing where you say a bunch of mean, nasty shite and then go "But I would NEVER say that! I'm saying THAT'S what what THEY would say!"

I didn't say anything mean or nasty. And i said all of it.

"Hollywood" knows what it's doing. There's no moral compass or social conscience out there. It's all money driven and everytime we see a tranny actor in a big action movie or some homo super hero or a black actor in an historically white role or whatever else. It's because millions in market research and focus group studies told them it's what people want.

Look at how well low budget, low production value Christian-themed movies do.

If these studios were ALL about the money they’d make more wholesome content, because there is high demand for that.

Instead, they walk a line between pushing their agenda and making money, and in this way they inflience society and create culture that is in the direction they want.

If there wasn't a market for it, and people didn't pay for it. . .it wouldn't get made

Hollywood panders to $$$

That is free market economics at work. Let $$$ decide where our moral boundaries lie. It is nobody's job but yours to insulate your kids.

I am always curious with these things. Did they have to meet the same standards, including physical, as men in the same program? Or were they relative standards adjusted for gender?

Look I'm not saying you're wrong because I wouldn't know but what Christian movies do well?

The last Christian movie I saw do well at the box office was the religious version of a snuff film.

If there's a high demand for "wholesome" content. Someone would exploit it. I don't think it's there.

Reading the "pandering" threads from this last week there's really only one thing to surmise:

Most of this board doesn't have a clue what pandering means.

Let me educate them with a song
quote:

A dirt road
A cold beer
A blue jeans
A red pickup
A rural noun, simple adjective

No shoes
No shirt
No Jews
You didn't hear that
Sort of a mental typo

I walk and talk like a field hand
But the boots I'm wearing cost three grand
I write songs about riding tractors
From the comfort of a private jet

I could sing in mandarin
You'd still know I'm pandering
Hunting deer, chasing trout
A Bud Light with the logo facing out

Hear that subtle mandolin
That's textbook pandering
I own a private ranch that I rarely use
I don't like dirt

[Spoken:]
One verse, one chorus in the bag
Now it's time to talk to the ladies
I am hoping my Southern charm offsets all these rape-y vibes I'm putting out

Good girl
In a straw hat
With her arms out in a corn field
That is a scarecrow
Thought that was a human woman, sorry

A cold night
A cold beer
A cold jeans
Strike that last one

I'm wanting you
I hope you're feeling me
Subtextually

We go to bed, you doze off
So I take your country girl clothes off
I put my hands on your body
It feels like hay,
It's a fricking scarecrow again

Like Mike's Evander-ing
frick your ears, I'm pandering
I write songs for the people who do
Jobs in the towns that I'd never move to

Legalize gerrymandering
Tolerate my pandering
You got a beautiful mouth
I got a beautiful

You dumb motherfrickers want a key change?

Thematically meandering
Emphatically pandering
I got a tight grip on my demo's balls
Say the word "truck" and they jizz in their overalls

You don't know what land you're in
I'm in the land of pandering
And I'll be upfront
I do what I do 'cause I'm a total fricking cun-try boy

Pilots have to conform to the anthropometrics measurements standards. Not sure how you could make those gender specific.

I think people know when pandering is going on. Or at least the savvy ones do.

I know when politicians pander, weathermen pander, talkshow hosts pander, business owners pander and Hollywood producers pander.

I Can Only Imagine has a budget of $7M and grossed $84M

Gods Not Dead - $65M on $2M budget

Heaven is for Real - $101 on $12

Fireproof - $33M on $500k budget

I haven’t seen these movies. Im sure they’re not very good.

But people want to see this stuff.

Yay, another fricking thread about pandering...this board is getting as bad as the rest.

The whole site has gone down pretty badly. Many boards have become poli board lites, where a ton of the threads are either politically tinged or trolls making fun of the political posts.

Last week the OT had 1 or 2 fairly good days and looked like the old board, but it just threw the return to crap into stark relief.

I hate to reply 4 pages deep and despite your downvotes, you have a point. Recently in the dust up over the Georgia abortion law Netflix and in particular Jason Bateman as a mouthpiece for the service threatened to cease production in the state. Given your premise, I believe it's entirely likely the Netflix response was tested in a focus group or run up the flagpole at a meeting of Netflix movers and shakers. It all unfolded so systematically.

I think so.

A multi billion dollar industry isn't principled. Focus groups and market studies decide which side the entertainment industry falls on various social/cultural issues. If show business leans SJW or whatever else, then their business interests told them to, not their social values.
