On the subject of airmen. I think less than 100 women fly fighter jets out of maybe 5000 total.
There's a female pilot in the new top gun movie. Based on the original 85 film, we know they pander strongly to gays. Well now they're obviously pandering to women. Because what are the odds that out of the thousands of fighter pilots in the us military, maverick would encounter one out of a hundred or so female pilots? There's so few female fighter pilots in the military, their numbers border insignificant but yet one will be featured in a major hollywood production.
The point is this. There's lots of people out there who want us to reject all this pandering and it's not happening. No one's rejecting it and no one will.

And my point is Hollywood isn't principled enough to have it's own agenda. They react to the market and provide the masses with what they want. All this "pandering" folks bitch about. We have it because it makes copious amounts of money.
This is why people should surrender any hope of a social backlash to it all. Hollywood gives the masses what they want.

who cares if they include a female - just because they are the minority number, doesn't mean they aren't there. and you say it is pandering, i have no issue with it - especially if it inspires woman to be awesome pilotes like the WASP's were back in the day.
sadly most people don't know who the WASP's were, but i assure you they were every bit a badass as the men that flew in that era as well.

Maybe they are pandering to me as straight white male bc I dont want a sausage fest and would like a chick in there.
I dont know who the female pilot is but I like Jennifer Connelly and this Monica Barbaro looks hot so i'm ok with it. Sorry you're upset queer.

Really they probably just needed a way for a female lead to play off Tom Cruise because Kelly McGillis aged like milk.
