Wait what? I don't really think of either of them as the "villain", but Angier is clearly the one who took things too far. He was willing to *spoilers ahead*

fake his own murder and let a man hang for it, plus take his daughter.

Wow. I need to find a way to watch The Prestige. Following is a pretty good opening movie. What stands out is everything he does is very good to great.

haven't seen following so i can't rank it. i actually don't really think Prestige is a better made movie than the ones below it, but it's just an all time favorite. I'd love to go back and watch it and not know what's coming.

Uhhhh....Jackman is the villain man.

well Hugh Jackman was the villain, so that explains your confusion.

i genuninely understand people's frustration with interstellar, but if you have a 4k and decent soundbar/speaker system, i'd highly recommend it.

i saw it in theater and just enjoyed it. then went and watched it in IMAX and didn't have to wrap my head around the plot and that made it amazing.

such a flawed flawed movie, but still one of my favorites.

Memento
The Prestige

Inception
Interstellar
The Dark Knight
Dunkirk (I don't think Dunkirk entirely works, but I also think it is his most ambitious film and I'm willing to forgive a lot simply for taking a big swing like that)
Batman Begins
The Following

Insomnia
The Dark Knight Rises

Memento is a masterpiece. Sadly, it's been all downhill from there.

My ranking:

Tier 1
The Prestige
Memento

These are both modern classics and show a command of film and narrative that his other films just can't touch. The Prestige will be a renaissance film in 20 years when people forget about it - And then realize just how good it is.

Tier 2
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Inception

Tier 3
Interstellar
Following
Insomnia
Dunkirk

Tier 12
The Dark Knight Rises

I’m a sci-fi guy so Interstellar and Inception are tops and I like to be challenged during a long movie.

That said, I’ve watched several trailers for Tenet and I’m not sure that this might just be a little too far fetched.

But I’m sure I’ll go see it and be ready to be challenged.

Anyone else have views on Tenet?

Dang. Love all his movies. The music in interstellar and inception are just so memorable to me. Portions of the Batman trilogy also stand out.

I will play interstellar in my headphones at night sometimes to fall asleep.

There are a few directors who when they do a movie I have to see it in theaters because I know it will be more than just a movie but an experience. Nolan is at the top of that group

The Prestige
Inception
Momento
Dark Knight(no clue why some of you have this so low, he did an insanely good job making a perfect form of Joker to me).
Batman Begins
Dark Knight Rises

Haven't seen the rest
