I'm with you, man, I've never thought Star Wars was anything special.

What I do want to argue is that Star Wars was never that great of a concept in the first place.

I don’t think you could be more wrong. I’m not a Star Wars nerd, but the concept is pretty great. It’s the execution that is poor in so many episodes.

TFA was not really good at all. It did well and is see positively by its of people because it was a connection to the original trilogy.

The story is not good, and unlike the originals, you feel no connection to the character arcs. They are just forced and there is nothing to buy into.

Once the nostalgia wore off and the story got even worse, most fans just gave up.

The original story has flaws, sure, but it hooked people to the characters and their development. After people realized that Rey was just a “Mary Sue”, it was done. You feel nothing for them.

In one of the newer Star Wars movies, didn't they ride horse-like creatures on the outside of a star destroyer like cowboys??

Yeah, those movies got real bad.

If JK Rowling is giving her stamp of approval then that’s one thing. Her creation her choice. That isn’t the same thing as what Lucas did with Star Wars. He has handed the keys over to somebody else and they are driving the entire franchise into the pond.

I do wonder if JK Rowling is intentionally altering Hermione just so the character no longer is solely associated with Emma Watson. I guess no such leeway can be given for Harry , but the way I hear it Emma and Daniel aren’t exactly best buds with JK anymore.

Considering it drew from other sources (including westerns and samurai filme), it was (and is) great

I was going to say this.
Star Wars was a flipped script away from being a western.
And it is why Mandalorean has seen so much success (adopting that methodology).

I haven't watched all of the Canon. There may be more to the success of Clone Wars and Rebels than westerns style story telling. But it is easy to identify the highpoints of the story telling

The Force Awakens was only big because it rode on the shoulders of the original trilogy.
That is the point he was making.

The OP said it was never that good.

RDLSC is saying it is still such a big deal that the first Disney SW movie was a HUGE draw

He isn't saying it was good.

Star Wars 1-6 is incredible

Fun to watch, but I've come to reject the prequels. For a number of reasons. Most of which involve Anakin and how Lucas wrote him. Little Ani was every bit as bad as Rey. Untrained, uneducated, yet was instantly a master of anything and everything. Whether Pod racing or crawling into a Naboo starfighter for the very first time and not crashing right out of the hanger... ridiculous.

And older Anakin was just an insufferable annoying brat. The way Obi Wan described him, I had always imagined that Anakin acted more like what we saw in Poe Dameron. Smart, talented, confident, but not overly brash and cocky. That's why his fall into the Dark side was to be all the more tragic.

The OT is wildly overrated. Not bad, just very overrated. Ewoks. Mark Hamill is a terrible actor.

Basically, in today’s world, Star Wars is not very original, full of plot holes, and kind of lame.
how fitting that you used a gif of a show that was the exact same thing.

Like I said Disney has been trying to destroy Star Wars and their new stuff sucks because they suck at making it.
your understanding is tiny. they dont suck at making it per se. they are evil and doing exactly what they planned to do. disney bought SW to use for indoctrination purposes. Hollywood was taken over decades ago for that very purpose: indoctrination of evil. this plan was published over 60 years ago.

If they make Hermione black, and actually go
through with this tv series...Ill pretend it doesnt exist. Anyone that invested in wokeism
isnt capable of making a good show or movie

the OT wouldn’t survive the same scrutiny everything they put out now gets.

But I think it’s better that way. We can’t have fun anymore.
