When will people admit that the premise of Star Wars just isn’t that great?

A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back are two of the best movies ever made and are the reason why there is a Star Wars franchise still turning out shows and movies nearly 50 years later. I do like Return of the Jedi and the Prequel Trilogy. They're just not all-time great films.

Since Disney bought the franchise, though, it has gone to shite in my eyes and I will not watch any more films or shows.

Some of my major disagreements.

1. The portrayal of the Big Three, especially Luke, in the ST. Nothing else needs to be said about that.

2. Making Rey a Mary Sue and related to Palpatine.

3. Bringing Palpatine back in The Rise of Skywalker. The fricker was last seen falling down a chasm and blowing up in some reactor core that then blew up with the Death Star. He should have been dead three times over.

What the ST basically did was take the Big Three (who were all young, happy, and full of promise when last seen at the end of ROTJ) and turn them into losers while nullifying the sacrifices of everyone associated with the Rebellion.

It was the dumbest idea in the history of film.

4. Vader/Anakin meeting Obi-Wan again between ROTS and ANH - and losing to him.Vader/Anakin should be the superior warrior. Losing to OWK on Mustafar when he was maybe a little overconfident, still learning to master the dark side, and perhaps a little conflicted is one thing. But losing a rematch shouldn't happen. What we saw in ANH should have been the only rematch - just with better fight choreography.

Rogue One is the only Disney SW film I have seen that I think fits the story and the characters. The main reason is Vader is VADER! They didn't try to make him a closet pacifist or some shite to be "different" or "shocking" to the audience. They let the villain we love be the villain we love.

If ST Luke had been anything like OT Luke, everyone would have at least liked the ST too. Even bringing Palps back might have been tolerable to have had a peak Luke vs. peak Palps showdown at the end. I don't know how Luke would kill Palps considering what he survived on the Death Star, but maybe Luke has gotten so powerful that he could suppress Palp's force spirit... or whatever. Not good but definitely better than what we got.
