When movies are marketed as “made by this guy!” I find that irritating

Latest example is The Covenant (which looks like a great movie btw).
It can’t just be marketed as “The Covenant”, no it’s “Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant”.
We get others like “James Cameron’s Avatar” etc…
We get it, these guys think they’re a big deal and they make good movies. I don’t know why it just seems like pandering to me and I find it annoying as hell.

Supposedly it's to differentiate the films, like the 2006 "The Covenant"
I'm not sure that's the case for Lee Daniels and uh, others

Actually, legally, they had to use his name. This was the 2nd name change for the movie (after trying "the Interpreter" first)

Didn't this all start with "John Carpenter's Halloween?"

Tyler Perry's Caddyshack 2: Electric Boogaloo

do you also not care about bands when albums come out?
or authors when books come out?
or authors when books come out?

I didn’t say I didn’t care about the director. I said it’s annoying when they include the directors name in the title of the movie

Certain directors have fan bases. The studio can sell the movie based more on the director than any actor. Do you think Oppenheimer would have made more money if it was marketed as the new Cillian Murphy movie?

The title of the movie wasn’t
“Christopher Nolan Presents: Oppenheimer”
“Christopher Nolan Presents: Oppenheimer”

my favorite is
"From the creative mind of Tiger1242"
"From the people who Brought you "Made by this guy""
"From the creative mind of Tiger1242"

It seems this is the case for both the covenant and the butler. I really can’t think of any other movies where the official title includes the directors name

Even Baz Luhrmann never pulled that shite.

I like Guy Ritchie so I was more excited when his name was attached.

In the late 80s QT was shopping Reservoir Dogs around hollywood as quentin tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and people would say WTF is quentin tarantino?

Yeah, I mean, you are right. I guess it’s just semantics, for whatever reason it bothers me OK

After The Sixth Sense, we had to know every time M. Night Shyamalan was involved in a movie.
