my favorite is

"From the creative mind of Tiger1242"

"From the people who Brought you "Made by this guy""

And then you look it up on IMDB to find out the same catering company and 2 sound engineers worked on both movies.

Didn't this all start with "John Carpenter's Halloween?"
It all goes back to silent days & DW Griffith, Cecil B DeMille, etc... Of course there was Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. If a director was marketable, he got the possessive credit.

Eventually it began to be used by directors who weren't celebrities, like Carpenter, ultimately leading to the absurdity of "The SECOND QUENTIN TARANTINO FILM"

Then there's the "By" credit, which I think started in France but was brought to H'wood in 1955 w/Otto Preminger & The Man With The Golden Arm, leading writer-director Burt Kennedy to comment:

"I drove past Otto Preminger's house last might - or is it a house by Otto Preminger?"

In the late 80s QT was shopping Reservoir Dogs around hollywood as quentin tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and people would say WTF is quentin tarantino?

Everyone was like, who's this dude? What kinda politics pushed him off the title page?
