Tough question, initially I wanna say Caddyshack or Blazing Saddles. Have to throw Animal House in their too.

The Big Lebowski is too subtle for the average idiot. The Hangover was awesome, the first half of Super bad, and my wife (no pics) would want me to mention Arthur.

Can't pick just one but short list certainly includes:

Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Holy Grail
Animal House
A Night at the Opera / A Day at the Races

and one that sticks with me for personal reasons: Dudley Moore version of Arthur

There are several for me, but if I had to pick one, it’s Caddyshack

Caddyshack and Ghostbusters for that same era are probably #1 and #1a for me and that might be overall.

For classic films, it's hard to beat the Marx Brothers - really their masterpiece, for me, is A Night at the Opera. But, Duck Soup has some of their best bits as well (and many folks rank that one higher)

Also, Some Like it Hot and The Apartment (both with Jack Lemmon).

Any list should also include Blazing Saddles, It Happened One Night, The Philadelphia Story, Bringing up Baby and His Girl Friday.

My funniest? Probably between Airplane and Austin Powers #1

Let me add Six Pack as well. It's nostalgic, but Swifty cursing a blue streak as a kid character was hilarious to us kids of that age

Im going to just judge movies off the very first time I saw them...

Meet the Parents had me laughing so hard, I could not catch my breath. I thought Step Brothers and Anchorman are also up there. Airplane is top notch. Joe Dirt also a contender. Caddyshack is probably my #2

80s -Airplane
90s- Dumb & Dumber

2000s may be the golden era of funny (Stepbrothers, The Hangover, Superbad, Wedding Crashers, Old School, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) but Tropic Thunder is tough to beat.

2010s- 21 Jump Street
2020s- Really rough years for comedy...I got nothing

Billy Madison

Billy Maidson really shouldn't work, it's so random , it's almost like 20-30 different loosely connected sketches that just somehow end up working perfectly. Tough to describe

Dumb and Dumber also still holds up. They walked that line of stupidity but believable. The sequels could never grasp that and just made them total retards you can't even believe they got themselves dressed that day.

From that will Ferrell run of the 2000s, The Other Guys used to be my least favorite but now might be my favorite. Talladega Nights might have aged the worst, it's not bad just don't find it as funny on re-watches.

all these random thoughts to say, I can't pick a favorite. I just wish we were still getting quality comedies like we once did.

I can't nail down the funniest for me because each of my favs are different types of comedy.

Blazing Saddles
Tropic Thunder
The Hangover
Dumb & Dumber
Airplane
Naked Gun

ETA: Me Myself and Irene has some great comedy in it as well.
ETA part Deux: Crap I keep thinking of others.
Austin Powers

Get Hard.

100% the funniest movie that Will Ferrel has done.

Talladega Nights is a close second

I'd say Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Dumb and Dumber, Wedding Crashers, Superbad are all up there for me.

I can watch Wedding Crashers as much as any of them.
