It amazes how people make such a big deal about the shorter distance of the Preakness. It is one sixteenth of a mile shorter than the Derby. That is 6 to 7 seconds of running. It's not like they are running six furlongs.
If no horses from the Derby enter the Preakness and the field is full of new shooters, it is highly likely that none of them will have been in a race as long as the Preakness. Everyone will be wondering if these horses can handle the distance.
One sixteenth of a mile further is also a much bigger problem for horses with stamina issues than a distance horse running one sixteenth of a mile less.

The #1 horse has not won the Kentucky Derby since 1986.
You saw Zach Bryan at Tiger Stadium a few weeks ago. Not Zac Brown.

On a related note, how much should pool service cost? For people who have a pool guy come weekly, what do they charge to test, add chemicals, brush, and vacuum?
My niece is thinking about buying a house with a pool and is trying to figure out what the monthly cost would be on average for service?

Best tournament on TV this weekend
Does not happen often. Pretty rare especially for a full season.
Central Methodist wrestler is a Chalmette High graduate. Garine Gibson
5 or 6 passes were dropped, including the interception. Even the deep ball to Olave could have been a completion if Olave were a true #1 receiver. Shough should have been close to 75 or 80 percent completion percentage if he had help from receivers, with no interception and who knows how many points they put on the board without the drive killing drops.
And that will go down as Tyler Shough's first interception.

Do you think Gamecock fans are behind for the backup QB to come in? They should be. Sellers has looked way worse than Nuss tonight.

Or do you think they understand the game a little better and don't blame everything on the QB?
He only did this to keep himself from stealing pool floats.
I'm guessing Ben Franklin as well. I used to roam those mean halls back in the day as well.

Great matches tonight all around. Starocci winning his 5th, Vincent winning as a freshman (plus his connection to Louisiana wrestling), and Wyatt finishing the night with the upset all add up to a great night.

Vince!!!!!
His brother coaches here in Louisiana
Yep, Hamiti beat Levi Haines

Jacob Frost from Iowa St (Louisiana boy) just lost on the consolation side and will wrestle for 7th tomorrow. Still awesome that he placed top 8 and became an all American. His twin brother lost in blood round and just missed out on being a 2 time all American
That was incredible. Shapiro is a frickin beast. Too bad he wrestled like an idiot in the last minute of the match.

Wrestling. Semis getting ready to start
I know it isn't NCAA D1 stuff, at least not yet, but there has been an influx of NCWA club teams in the state. Most of the bigger universities in the state have NCWA teams. They travel to compete and and, in some tournaments, compete against NCAA and NAIA schools. There is a tournament next week at UT in Austin. NCWA nationals are in Bossier in March.
At least two of these club teams are attempting to work with university administrators in hopes of becoming full blown athletic programs. Maybe there's hope...
