It's fine. Not earth shattering but it's not a bad one to binge

First two seasons were the best. Show fell off hard after Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby left.

Seasons 3-5 are still very good though the level of eye candy did drop off when Vanessa Kirby left. The actress that plays Diana is prettier than the real Diana ever was and she does a great job with the character.

I agree with other posters in that the first 3 seasons were probably the best, but overall it's a great series. The acting is top notch. It plays fast and loose with some historical events, but that's to be expected since very few people know what Elizabeth's private life was really like.

The first two seasons were some of the best television Netflix has ever made. The next two seasons were solid but were really missing Claire Foy and Matt Smith IMHO. I couldn't finish the fifth season because the melodrama surrounding Diana and Charles became just too overbearing.

Last two seasons were a chore to get through. Everything before that was very good.

I agree with this. The first two seasons were the most interesting to me because I knew a lot less about that part of Elizabeth's life. I found the series to be less interesting as it moved forward through time. I think Charles is incredibly boring as a person, moreso as he gets older, so the more he moved into the fore, the less interesting it was to me. Overall it's really well done and the production values are off the hook.

I agree with all the posters. Seasons 1 and 2 are outstanding. It drops a bit each season, partly because the first two were so good. As they move into Seasons 4-6 much of it we already know simply because the Royal Family became so visible in the 80s and the press no longer hid their dirty laundry.

I've read the series creator will NOT do a sequel but is open to a PRE-quel which would be fascinating if they did the 30 or so years before the abdication.

I move it but agree the first two seasons are the strongest. Probably because they’re the furthest from most of our memories. I also love period pieces from that time.

I wouldn’t mind if the entire show had stayed in that timeline simply to keep those actors. They really were phenomenal. The second batch grew on me as it went on, but nothing Beats 1-2.

I actually like season 4 the best. Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin are out of this world great as Charles & Diana. Love Olivia Colman as well.

Agree with other posters about seasons 1 & 2. They’re magical. So cool to see that era.

Very good first and second season. Still not as good as queens gambit. It’s probably if not the best or top three best 1 season network mini tv series or shows I’ve seen on their streaming service.

They could just go all the way back, and do Victoria, Edward, etc.

Lithgow is remarkable but it's hard to get past the fact that he's nearly a foot taller than the real Churchill. He towers over the rest of the cast.

Gillian Anderson exaggerates Thatcher's accent and mannerisms and comes off as an over the top caricature.

Claire Foy is cute as button.

I knew Edward was a Nazi sympathizer but wasn't aware of the extent of his conniving. Definitely a rabbit hole to go down.

Some historians believe he gave the nazis valuable information about the French before and during the blitz, and that’s why they had so much success so fast.

I enjoyed it thoroughly to the end but I’m an Anglophile.

It was weird each time the cast changed but I came around quickly each time.

As someone said the first 2 seasons are the best. I liked those actors the most but it’s also the time frame I think most people alive today are least familiar with so there’s more intrigue. Plus seeing the young royals is a little more interesting again because uts so different than what we know.

ETA: didn’t realize this was an older post and I basically said the same thing a few months ago. Since then we’ve come back and watched seasons 5 and 6 but my thoughts are the same.

My wife (no pics) and I watched it. Thought is was good. Very insightful as to the customs, traditions, and politics of the Royals.

My wife (no pics) and I watched the entire series together. We enjoyed the entire run.

The most enjoyable ones for me were the seasons covering Elizabeth's reign up until the Diana stuff. Those were the seasons my wife enjoyed the least. She enjoyed the Diana drama much more than me.

But overall, very interesting.

It's been a while since I've finished it, but I also distinctly remember feeling like the Charles and Diana seasons had that slight "propaganda" touch to them, as if they'd been washed down a bit to cast the sitting group in a more flattering light.

It seemed like the earlier seasons had more rawness and pain, which helped the viewer empathize some with their mistakes and struggles (if that's even possible).
