Have we commented on the quick shot of Dr Manhattan on Mars yet?
Saw the reply of the explosion and the less than one second clip of him tapping his fingers on a desk in a suit. I'm ready for some Dr Manhattan.

Agreed. I didnt think about them being robots though. Makes sense.
The guess the guy that hung Don Johnson is like the black white supremacist from the dave chapelle show. Divorced his wife for being a ni**er lover

A strange start to the series, I’m hoping it gets better, but I’d give episode 1 a 2/10.
The only good story acting in the episode was Don Johnson, so they won’t have that crutch to prop up #2

Is it wrong to think it's a bit of a fail to not get Crudup to reprise his role?

I have no idea what the Watchmen is going in but I'm all in after the first episode and watching the upcoming season preview

If there was even the slightest possibility that Crudup would return with an illuminating blue cock in this show, I’d be tuned in like the Seinfeld finale was making love to Season 8 of GOT.

I enjoyed the first episode. Looks like it can go in a lot of different directions. Agree that Reznor killed the music. I waited to see who did it bc I thought it was so well done.

The comic/graphic novel is one of the best books of all time. Not just comic book, but books in general. Its incredible. But even if you're not up for reading that, I'd watch the movie, it's pretty good.

Considering he sent it to a right wing propaganda newspaper, I'm assuming the journal is treated as a conspiracy theory.
I liked the first episode but I'm not surprised how triggered some on this board are. The ending of the episode and the season preview makes me think this goes much deeper than a simple race war.

Against my better judgement, I watched the premiere. It was shittier than I originally expected. However, I'll let it play it out for another episode or two before it gets the axe.

Yep. Robots or clones or something of the sort. And based on the preview at the end of the episode I'm wondering if he's going to try to create another Dr. Manhattan.

What I don’t get is why am I watching some local-level bullshite in Tulsa?
Where are the Watchmen in the “Watchmen?”
Are the costumed cops Watchmen or are they just cops?
Is Sister Night a Watchman? Or just a cop?
Are there local Watchmen that work with police or something? If so, are there hundreds of Watchmen?
Pilot could have helped explain that.

Somebody else will be better at this than me and I'm just on my phone but here's at least something...
The Watchmen graphic novel was set in an alternate 1980s bc superheroes (Rorshach, Nite Owl, Dr Manhattan, The Comedian, Silk Spectre and Ozymandias) came along in the 40s and helped change history like the Vietnam war and Nixons presidency. The world was kind of on the verge of a Workd War 3 and the Watchmen were almost all retired. Some of them were second generation of their superheroes and only one of them, Dr Manhattan (to be seen later), was the only one with actual superhuman powers. They were just masked vigilantes trying to do good.
Skipping pretty much everything, Ozymandias (Jeremy Irons character) created a giant monster squid (hence the falling squid from the show) in a lab and purposefully set it loose in Manhattan and it created mass destruction and killed millions(??). He did it in his mind to avoid a WW3 in an attempt to get world powers to come together and fight this monster instead of themselves. And it actually worked and created world peace. He is still alive in the show.
Rorshach found out it was Ozymandias who did it and thought it just wasnt right and was willing to die than keep quite. So Dr Manhattan blew him up with his mind. Yep. He's powerful.
There is a lot in the show that had nothing to do with the book. But a number of the characters are still alive and I'm sure they will tie in together more as the show goes on. Also, the bug eyed plane was in the novel too so that's why they were flying something weird like that.
Rorshach was by far my favorite character, so I am a little disappointed the white supremacist are using his masks.

I’ve read the book and seen the movie
I just don’t know what the masked cops have to do with it.
Also I kept Thinking Sin City and the yellow bastard with this bright yellow masks.

Not to sound like the Poli Board but is the premise that far fetched? At least enough for a TV show?
Reparations are a very real thing proposed by sitting members of Congress.
If reparations somehow passed and the government took money out of every citizens pocket and redistributed it, how would some people react?
The ultra restrictive police policies (the body cam stuff and the locked up guns) are very much how many people would like to see the police of America restricted.
Look at police in Mexico and many third world nations today. They wear masks at work for the very same reasons as on the show.
If you look past the uncomfortable black vs white issue, much of the show is quite believable.

Not far fetched for an alternate universe. Especially one based on a series where Nixon remained in office through the 80's.
And I know that this series is seen as left wing propaganda, but that scene with the weapon stuck in the safety lock was the biggest anti-gun-control message that I've seen on TV.
