yeah, im sure the character who despised liberals, intellectuals, and operated on a code of moral absolutes didn't have any far right leanings at all.

The show has nothing to do with the comic, the movie, or the established universe.
Just says "Watchmen" in the title.
It is a show about evil white supremacists fighting saintly black cops.
That's it.

but why'd they bomb Tulsa? That's a white bread town in 1921
So basically the people who were pissed and done with the show in the 1st 5 minutes know nothing about history.

I enjoyed the first episode. Regina King is a damn good actress, I like her.

Are some of you nerds pretending to like this premiere because y’all hate the PT board posters that much? Because this was a very meh episode

Excellent premiere. Figured thered be some melting.
15 minutes in I was thinking that the M/TV board is NOT gonna like this.
(This place is getting almost as ridiculous as the Poli Board)

yes. like the other poster said.
Veidt and Kovacs represented opposite ends of the political/ideological spectrum. i mean, its laid out pretty clear.

This is very on message, historically
Don't know why I'm being downvoted. Every leftist regime must institute mass starvation and liquidation of the dregs as a means of self perpetuation.

I enjoyed the episode. You`re nuts if you bounce after this episode, it's going to be a pretty deep story line. The preview after the credits could tell you that even if you were fuming the whole episode bc a black girl was the good guy and white men are the bad guys.
I'm not bouncing, but I think many, like myself, were just a bit taken aback that the main storyline (through one episode) seems to be racial conflict. If I'm watching a TV show or Movie, I want to enjoy it, I don't really want to sit there and watch a fake racist biopic about a real event in 1921.
Now, the storyline will probably go much deeper, that's why I'm going to watch it. I just really hope the whole plot isn't about political issues and left vs right. We hear about that shite 24/7 in real life, I wish I could watch a show without that.

First ep was meh. I’ll stick around for the rest I guess.

I said I liked it but it was weird and I want to see how they're going to move forward. I did not know about the Tulsa strife in 1921; you got me. I learned something. But, unfortunately, you're still an a-hole with reading comprehension problems.

Let'em leave. Do you really want people bitching in here for an entire season?
There's too much good television to enjoy. Not worth it to tough it out through a series that gives you a terrible taste right off the bat.
My main fear is Lindelof being weird just to be weird. I don't want to wait until next season for him to explain this strange backdrop to us. When Moore threw a squid at you, he had a valid reason.
Looking forward to Jean Smart. She's been killing it on those FX series. She'll be an upgrade from Don Johnson (though he was pretty good).

That's what I was getting at, but you said it much better. The Watchmen world is weird enough without Lindelof's help.
One thing I forgot to mention in my stream of thought gibberish from last night is that Night's car is goddamned badass.

Why do my fellow whites get so triggered with white bad guys?
I would think 16 years of a Nixon white house would have polarized the races more than our real timeline.
So they have a neo nazi group. Probably a lot to do with the Hangman character they keep showing in background ads. Including the image of him hanging a black guy in a comic drawing.
The episode ended with the captain being hung. Maybe that super is behind the Rosarch guys. Also Rosarch wasn't a good guy he was an antihero.
The show isn't making all whites look bad so y'all need to cool it. Just see where it goes.

Rorschach went down as a national celebrity. You don't take out half a SWAT squad without being on the news.
He was also well known before and after costumed vigilantes were abolished by the Keene Act.
And he left the final draft of his journal with a right wing tabloid.
Is the show any good I was sorta following in a talk back thread on another site and there were some "Oh shite, Squid Rain!"

Too soon to tell. They're throwing a lot of stuff at the viewer at once. We'll see after they start giving us a firmer universe to walk through.
So far they're trying hard to give tiny links to the graphic novel more than the movie.

It was, uh, interesting. Not a big fan of watching the same drawn out stories about racial tension, but I am going to give it a few more episodes before i accurately form an opinion on the show.
However, it was really well shot and i did enjoy the score.

Mystery Box
The problem with everyone that was associated with "Lost" is that there was never any there there. It was all just a perpetual mystery with no release, leaving dedicated fans with entertainment blue balls. And now their method of script writing is the "go to" with Netflix other streaming services needing binge content. So, you get shows with meandering mysterious episodes with no actual plot. You also get a lot of filler, like having to watch people walk from one point to another, or their actual car ride with no dialog.
It's the equivalent of the x-ray glasses ads from the back of old comic books, you sent your money, you waited and waited in anticipation, the excitement built as the days and weeks passed, and then it finally arrived and you quickly realized that you'd been ripped off and now you couldn't get your time or money back.
