Jonas the evil corporate weatherman is a bad guy on the level of darth Vader or thanos

I once had a similar screenplay where the bad guy was a corporate marine biologist researching tidal changes and waterspouts . I sued the creators of twister for copying my idea. Needless to say their defense was

My 12 year old watched it recently and was on the edge of her seat the entire movie.

Totally get that. Great for kids 30 years and younger.

You have to think back on the 90's. The story, script and acting performances were really just a side factor to the Cutting edge CGI that was being used. I remember watching an hour long documentary on how they created the scenes.

The movie was originally pitched not by the producers reading a script but by showing them a CGI scene created by George Lucas's effects studio.

Looking back they got a lot of the physics wrong and the roar effect they put on the Tornado was way over the top but at the time is was amazing.

It also made alomost 500mill on a less than 100mill budget.

well I am going on 47 - and it is a top 20 movie for me.

Twisters is like Con Air - you watch them because they are fan-fricking-tastic despite their flaws.

some movies you just enjoy and don't over-analyze.

ETA - frick You for disrespecting a movie with the mother-fricking Extreme in it!

Just turned it on the other day, and it was much worse than I ever remembered.

When it first came out, it had a certain appeal and was somewhat entertaining.

Unpopular take: it was never good.

That sucks. I saw it at the drive-in and it was perfect in that format.

I miss those days. The last one around me closed a couple years ago.

Too many flaws and the advancements in both science and filmmaking. It has definitely not aged well.

Twister didn't even take itself serious in 1996. Why are you trying to take it seriously in 2024? Relax. Put your feet up and enjoy it for what it is.

At least his driver didn't suffer he dies instantly but Jonas knows he's done once the van in airborne.

I watched it a couple of months ago. The special effects weren’t as advanced as today, but my reaction wasn’t nearly as negative. I still found it to be entertaining.

For years my friends and I would just out of the blue say "None of you has ever seen an F5?" And then every one would avert eye contact and try to avoid the subject.
