Fine, but just because it won't spoil your enjoyment of the series/issues doesn't mean it won't for others. So why even mention spoiler-ish shite at all, especially when there are specific threads about that? These threads are for the show and anything within that. No comics, no spoiler sites, etc. It seems like more of a common courtesy thing than anything else. Just my $0.02 though.

I like how I can come here each week and read everyone's take on what happened in only 45 minutes (42 really) of screen time.
Was it like this during LOST's run?

I have a general question about this series
Why do they drive such shitty vehicles?
They basically have the pick of the litter as far as cars go, yet they drive junk. I mean, that is the best RV they could find? They couldn't get something more reliable than that?

That's one of those questions that it is just better not to ask. You could literally dissect just about every aspect of there survival decisions if you wanted to.

Shane has a new car.

It's an interesting question whether things which are potential spoilers for the comics only but are not spoilers for the show are taboo in a thread like this.
This particular dust up seems to have arisen over the spoiler about the girl which can only apply to the comic (since she just got blown away in the series)
Personally, I don't care at all if people post those kinds of spoilers cause I haven't read and don't plan on reading the comics. In some ways I find them (a little) helpful and interesting in that they show how the comic and the series diverge. I actually think the guy that posted that one was trying to just show that everything in the comics does not happen in the series and vice versa.
At the same time, I can see where people who plan on reading the comics could be upset. Might call for a ruling by the powers that be - is a spoiler for the comic only but not for the series forbidden in these threads?

Yeah, this is where it gets a bit sticky.
One is the source material/template of another, so I think both should be treated as separate entities regarding spoilers, and major plot points should be spoilers in the "universe".
A good analogy, albeit in reverse, is the Star Wars novels. These novels exist in the Star Wars Universe and they are based around the movies. So there are shared characters and new characters and they go through many small adventures but it all converges when they hit a major plot point, which is what the movies put forward. A good way to picture it is a chain of bottlenecks, which I am sure has been used in physics to explain how effects on time during time travel or a change in a multiverse would work, but I digress.
At the neck/spout/tightest point of each bottle is a main point that is resonant through the SW movies and comics, after that the characters and settings are allowed to expand in a forward progressing direction until another major plot point must be met in the next bottle neck. Many of the SW books use A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as these bottle necks. Familiar and new characters go on their adventures after A New Hope all make it back to take part in what we see on screen in Empire Strikes Back.
So considering that the relationship between 2 sources of Walking Dead material coexist, and would seem to do so in this chained bottleneck fashion, then I would say that spoilers from major points in the comics would be spoilers for the TV Series AND the comics, then they shouldn't be posted.
It's not that hard to start a new thread to keep people happy.
ETA The only figure I can think to represent the chain of bottlenecks that I described is myelinated sheets on an axon. Now I know the myelin helps speed up the information flow, so just look at the form it represents. The bottleneck is the axon and the wide part of the bottle is the myelinated sheet.

The powers that be disagree on the matter.
I don't mind mild spoilers about anything, not just the comic. I'm talking about any media. A complete spoiler ban makes it literally impossible to discuss any art whatsoever. It's a completely untenable position, and I think the "rude" arrow swings over to those whining about spoilers. If you engage in discussion on pop culture, expect minor spoilers on any topic related to the discussion. If I'm talking about Star Trek, I should expect mild spoilers about the Next Generation.
That said, big spoilers are an obvious no no. Don't reveal Darth Vader's identity or the big twist in any movie. Try to avoid talking about stunt casting in films. that sort of thing. If the art is relying on surprise, then don't reveal it.
But I actually think the Spoiler Nazis, who believe that no person should reveal any detail of something they have not seen, are the ones in the wrong. Spoilers are a neccessary part of any discussion of media. You assume the risk if you enter a conversation. It is finding a decent middle ground between the two sides -- and I don't think "Sophia is alive in issue 91" comes anywhere near that line.

How can you discuss what is affecting the walkers (joggers) without bringing up the source material which created the rules?

Just leave the comics out of this thread. If you want to say that something was different in the comics thats fine, but leave it at that. Giving specifics can backfire easily.
The only good contribution I have seen from the comic people was when someone complained about Daryl and reusing his arrows, and someone said that they explain him cleaning them in the comic. That's fine. But other than that what is the point in even mentioning the comics in this thread.

As far as I am concerned there are no comics. The only source material I need are the episodes that have been shown. Discuss those episodes. Go to the other threads if you want to feel cool about having read the comics.

Agree 100%. I will NEVER reveal a major, plot altering spoiler and if I ever have then I am sorry.
I really didn't think the Sophia thing was going to impact anyone.

Great, great episode. Just got around to watching last night.
- Dale is an idiot. I understand he is the moral center but his high horse act is starting to put them in serious danger. He's going to hide their weapons because he doesn't trust Shane? Really? Seems reasonable to expose your whole group because of your distrust which by the way you have no solid evidence of at all. "I know what kind of man you are." Yep he's the man that has helped you survive for as long as you have whether you like it or not. Imagine the reaction if zombies broke out of the barn and everybody went to get armed and, oops, guns are gone. Let's trek into the swamp to get them. Or if he had hid them and then died. Even better. Dale, like many others in this episode, were clinging onto a world that didnt exist anymore.
- Hershell's character is annoying but interesting. It was subtle but I liked his reaction when Maggie called the zombies "walkers" during their talk in the house. Also, hearing that his only daughter was almost killed not even 24 hours ago by one of them didn't even turn his beliefs towards the zombies. That is some serious delusion/denial.
- Loved how Darryl got pissed at the mom for giving up hope. She should have been the last one to do so.
- The final scene. What a great 10 minutes of TV. Shane flipping out when he saw Rick was what this group needed. You had 3 people putting themselves in harm's way to usher 2 zombies into a barn for safe keeping. Zombies that they continued to feed with their limited resources. Zombies that were separated from where they slept by an old wooden barn with a few locks on the door. This scene to me was a complete wake up call to those still hanging onto the old world. Loved how Shane kept shooting the one zombie in the chest in front of Hershell. It was a brutal way for it to happen, but seeing the massacre of the barn zombies might have been the only thing to separate those still clinging to the old world from it. Hershell's delusion of them being sick people is now hopefully gone along with the illusion of power that he held over the ranch. He along with the others there with the exception of Maggie had been too sheltered from the brutality of the current state of the world. Maybe now they wont be.

Yeah. TV is for douches.
Comics are cool and are far more reflective of real zombies.
