So, do y'all think Jared Leto was the killer? He was a creepy frick, for sure. He seemed to enjoy the interrogation and the police following him around, but 8 years earlier, he signed a confession to a murder, but was like 10 miles away or some shite, so it wasn't really him. Also, he didn't really keep any trophies, just news clippings, as we saw with the fake red barrette that Denzel bought.

I mean either way they are going to know the truth soon anyway unless the real killer just decides to hang up his muderering ways out of the blue

That’s kind of the issue with the barrette thing, they didn’t really build it up enough to be worth the payoff, and at the same time it didn’t really answer any questions that you would have toward the end of the movie

I think a better script this could’ve been a good movie. Move around some plot points and cut out the fat and it would’ve been a fun 1:30 in and out thriller. Instead they just tried to make a really long episode of True Detective without any of the mystery involved

Even though the movie was meh. It is a perfect straight to streaming movie. Entertain me for 2 hours even if it was meh.

in real life when the FBI takes over they would never just disregard leto's character with so much circumstantial evidence pointing to him. And once Leto's character supposedly flees, it would be even more suspicious and they would be after him hard.

Too many plot holes in this movie

As strange as it may sound I have higher standards for movies I watch at home vs. the theater. People have to be really high on a movie for me to watch it at home when I can watch Raiders of the Lost Ark or some other movie I love for the 1,000th time.

I just love the theater experience. A big, dark auditorium and a huge bag of popcorn covered in butter just does it for me. But because of the cost, the movie does have to be a little better than what I have been hearing about The Little Things.

The last movie I went to see in the theater was John Wick a few months ago. For some reason I didn't see it when it originally came out but had always heard good things about it and went to see a running of it at a theater nearby. Loved it. Haven't watched the sequels yet, though. But if John Wick 2 were playing at my local theater tonight, that's where I would be.

The first part of the movie is a giant wad of every single cop movie cliche ever.

Agreed. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather watch Denzel cook for 2 hours in a C+ movie than slog through a solid B+ ten part Netflix series with scrubs who couldn't make Denzel's orange mocha frappuccino.

Help me out here. Did they ever find the jogger girl's (red beret chick) body. Kinda suggested the one pulled out of the river might have been her. But no? Then they're digging for her body in the desert but its never found. So, was her body ever found. I am thinking, no.

Movie was damn slow and uneventful, I kinda drifted at times.

The only cool part of the movie was when we found out what was haunting Denzel all the while.

Perhaps he was the son of a democrat politician and they forgot to mention it.

I was pretty disappointed in this movie.Malek was not believable as a cop. It just did not develop anything. I was holding out hope that Denzel was the actual killer

He looks like a 9 year old kid and has the personality of a bookcase .

I don’t like him in anything

Absolutely Denzel was the killer. He would have known about creepy Leto and the false confession 8 years ago and knew he could pin it on him. The shooting at the previous time was taking out the remaining witness. That’s why he’s obsessed with making sure to “take care of the little things because the little things get you caught”

That’s my opinion.

ETA: rewound it and the barrette that he give malek is the EXACT same barrette as the girl jogging early in the movie. The only information that he has on that was that it was red nothing else but the one he bought it is the exact same one.

1) I was expecting the killer to be Denzel

2) The barrette thing is a catch 22, because what if they find the girl and it's still in her hair? The fact that Denzel mailed Malek the barrette would seem like he was trying to cover something.

Not to mention she apparently always wore the same red barrette and then Denzel sent Malek a brand new one. It wouldn't look brand new out of the box if she went jogging with it constantly.

Plus Denzel went the wrong way from where he was digging the holes

That tractor thing blocking road may have been where he buried the body

How else would he have found them out in the middle of nowhere

Leto probably knew it was Denzel as they probably saw each other at the strip clubs

Leto was probably trying to help Rami figure it out or find the body in his creepy sort of way, probably had followed denzel out there and denzel knew his car plus leto knew the exit number on interstate as well

Damnit now I might do a rewatch. If Denzel is the killer that makes this movie a lot better.

The whole hotel room bit seeing the dead bodies makes a lot more sense now. And him talking to the body in the morgue was really strange. Also toying with the initial suspect. Hmm.

This is all weird to me... burying the body wouldn't fit the MO of the previous killings. And if Leto wasn't involved past being a true crime junkie, he wouldn't have had a clue where to go. I think Leto was just leading the guy on a wild goose chase for fun.

Also find it completely unbelievable that they would have covered up Denzel shooting the girl years before. I guess at that point it would have been the early 80s, but that doesn't sit well.

I thought this was a reference to earlier in the film, after Denzel went to Leto’s apartment and looked around, and Malek asks him if he found a barrette, and Denzel says he might if he had more time to look.

Malek later kills Leto and struggles with the guilt of whether he murdered a regular guy or a serial killer, and Denzel sends Malek the barrette, indicating he went back to the apartment and found it.
