Home office computer/laptop recommendations
Posted by The Dunder Mifflin on 11/30/25 at 5:16 pm
My current desktop (HP Pavilion 23) just died on me and I need a new computer/laptop. The computer was about 11 years old and was for a former manager before me. So I did not pick the computer out, do not have any attachments to the current brand/model.
I mostly use the computer for quickbooks, spreadsheet and recording licenses/permits. I might use the computer 5-8 hours a week.
What kind of recommendations you got? Not looking to spend a fortune since I do not use it full time
Preferably windows program since my old computer is backed up on an external drive that ran windows

Read both books.
Hates songbirds and never had a desire to watch the movie.
But sunrise on the reaping was awesome. It was much more inline with og hunger games and catching fire. Like 75% of the story is hunger games/pre capital training.

re: High court clears way for lawsuit claim St James Parish steered pollution to Black areas
Posted by The Dunder Mifflin on 10/23/25 at 10:02 am to Monday
YCI (now Koch methanol) bought the old saint James high school for 10.1 million dollars, 250,000 over appraised value.
The parish then built a new state of the art campus plus an entire new football field/facility, baseball complex, etc.
Currently I’m always seeing Koch donating stuff to the community/parish. But these new industries are doing sooooo much harm to the people in the area.
The reason the industries are trying to come into this communities that are black populated is because:
1. Land is limited along the Mississippi River. Every time a new industry opens, it is less and less land available. They can only build this facilities from Baton Rouge going down the river because the channel isn’t deep enough past Baton Rouge for the big vessels.
2. Majority of the east side of the river is already developed. It’s only the west side that is available
3. Most of the people that live in this rural land are people who live on family land or people who ancestors worked on the farms that never moved away. It is not heavily populated, it might be “mostly” black neighborhoods because they are the only ones that really never moved away. It’s not anyone’s fault but their own.
If you are so worried about your health and “cancer alley” then move some else. Instead of living in cancer alley go live in Nola where bullets fly like butterflies

Just read something on Reddit and makes alot of sense now.
One thing from superman that was odd, out of place and never had any repercussions was hawk girl dropping the foreign leader to his death and nothing happen.
I think hawkgirl could possibly be the next one to be sent to salavation. I which would be pretty cool if that was the vision from the start

In my opinion, season was good, not as good as season 1. I understand what Gunn was doing. I am not a comic person and do not know the in-depth details of the stories.
Peacemaker season 2 (episodes 1-7) had 2 goals:
1 was story telling and building more backstory of the characters- Gunn said that the cast might not be in a season 3, but they will be involved in another show. That show will be Checkmate (which could have been the Waller show remade). I do not know the details of checkmate but it’s popular in the comic books. It’s easier to start a new series with characters we already know and like while slowly working in new characters into the universe
2: explains more of the different dimensions. One thing I’ve constantly see is how marvel dropped the ball on their multiverse for multiplayer reasons. I think Gunn saw this, and took the time in peacemaker to somewhat explain the dimensions in more detail. DC seems to use the different dimensions a lot in there storylines
Now episode 8 is a one off episode, does not really have much to do with the season. This episode helps set up where the future will go. Salvation kinda reminds me of the movie Predators, metahumans get dumped on this mystery planet with a threat bigger than them lurking.
Salvation run seems like a pretty big deal and has ties to darkseid. I would think that salvation will be a miniseries in the next 4 years once they kinda establish some villains to throw there
So was the season good? Yes and no. Depends how you look at it thinking it will be exactly like season 1.

These two pictures give off the same vibe
The spider picture (some people are saying it is brainiacs skull ship) has spears sticking up in the ground like the vision in creature commandos

This is the one I was looking at building, but if I priced it out correctly it would be 200 bucks for materials. And I could buy a metal rack for the same.
Do you remember the size and cost of the one you built? I could have don the math wrong

Garage storage
Posted by The Dunder Mifflin on 9/26/25 at 11:25 am
Pulling all of the baby stuff from the attic and it’s a pain in the butt. Thinking about building a shelving rack in the garage so I can store these storage containers for holiday stuff and other items.
What everyone did for storage in their garage? Build shelving or of any recs on buying metal shelving to assemble?
Will probably compare the cost of each tonight and do a little more research

My next question is, Keith says something along the lines of “a black! She got out”.
So they are just keeping all the people of color in “camps” instead of killing them (which I kinda thought would be the case)
Very much reminded me of that one black mirror episode……… white bear or something

I’ve seen him in an earlier trailer this season. But it could be one of the 2 lex goons from the movie. A black guy and one with glasses and a mustache.

Ik Sly is king shark.
But in the trailer for the next episode the line “ what’s my reason for helping you” sounds like a sly type of voice. 100% not Kumail type of voice

Even though everyone predicted the twist, I still enjoyed it.
Loved the “you Spider-Man memes me!” Had to rewind it and make sure I heard that right.
One thing that I’m not a fan of is that it finally clicked. Hault’s lex sounds like young Sheldon in the later seasons
The big question is who is Lex’s contact guy? Saw some people on Twitter it’s Booster gold and Kumail Nanjiani………… but the voice sounded like Sylvester Stallone

Yea, King is a major douche.
I’ve only listened to the audiobooks of The Long Walk, Salem’s Lot and Misery.
I think misery one of the top books I’ve listen to/read. Having seen bits and pieces as a kid on AMC during Halloween season it knew of the characters. So when I listen to the audiobook I had a good visualization of the characters and damn Kathy bates was amazing. I imagine her the entire book

Yes, I can see the stebbins character not being fleshed out in the movie. The “twist” didn’t hit like it did in the book.
Ik they had to trim some of the book, but I wish they had scramm. I enjoyed his story during the book.
I thought jonsson and Hoffman were great in the movie. They talked about wanted to do more movies together in the future and I am down for that.

Saw it today. I really enjoyed the movie didn’t mind the combination of book characters to a movie character.
Ending shocked me, I thought they were gonna go with book ending and have garraty win. But having Peter win is fine. While listening to the audiobook at one point I thought they were gonna go with Peter.
I liked not having the shadow person in the distance. It makes sense for the book and that time period. But I thought if in the movie would have been a little odd.

Enjoyed the season but ended kinda goofy
1. He was able to take the boat with none of praters people noticing? Where we found the keys
2. So a big yacht is in the river right in front of the statue of liberty but no one is suspicious about it? I feel like they would have some type of regulations of certain boats in the river around New York
But great season

Just finished the audio book. Wasn’t a big fan of the narrator and found him kinda monotoned. Which I listed to the book in 2 days while in and out of my truck durning work. So some parts were a little boring while it was being read.
The book was enjoyable, kinda boring, but not in a bad way. It was more like a slow burn. The last 20% of the book was what I was looking for, edge of your seat story. I actually sat in my truck in my driveway for the last 20 minutes listen so I could finish.
A lot of the early movie reactions talk about how it’s kinda like a stand by me (movie version) how all the kids grow into a friendship throughout the movie but it’s a depressing one. I can see that now after I finished, the kids bond overtime with each other as the walk continues.
Favorite aspect of the book:
From the start you get certain vibes about characters that might be an antagonist, but they are just hard asses at the beginning. They turn out to be friends in the group throughout the story
It kinda got to a point midway through the book that is Garratty the actual protagonist of this story? Are they gonna pull a switch up and have someone else win?
Last note: how much cocaine was King on when he wrote the book that he thought 4mph was a good pace to walk?
Many of times while listening to the book I thought, wow this is a stupid book! No one can walk 4mph for 5 days straight
