You touch on a point worth considering. I will often roll my eyes if someone uses the word misogyny to explain (dismiss) an opinion.

For example to attribute misogyny to anyone who voted for a man instead of a woman (running for political office) often makes no sense to me. Unless the explicit reason for voting for the man was to discriminate against women (eg the voter believes women should not hold elected office because they are women and women are somehow inferior) it over simplifies more complex decisions and often falsely attributes evil intentions.

In this case it sounds like the word misandry works (barring additional information). A desire to humiliate seems like a pathological dislike.

If I was the money behind this movie, I might sue these turds for intentionally sabotaging my product. D&D is vastly supported and followed by young males. Doing something this egregious to turn off that customer base goes beyond negligent and crosses over to malicious act.

Real men won't see it, so it doesn't matter.

Take a 35,000 ft view of things for a bit.

For a while now, nearly every female protagonist has been able to kick the arse of every obliging stunt man and nearly unstoppable with both weapons and and power she may have. Their "strength" resembles the exact same thing we've always thought of when we thought of male strength.

On the flip side, man have been depowered. They're less heroic, often having legit issues fighting hand to hand with 105 pound women, largely idiots, etc. Basically what this duo said was their goal.

Hollywood is desperate to make weak men and mannish women.

When you look at the Peter Pan and Wendy live action trailer it's clear as day. Wendy is now the swashbuckling heroine who doesn't want to grow up, can take on two pirates at once with a sword, etc. They THINK this makes her strong, when it reality it misses why Wendy in the classic was stronger. In that, she's the adult in the room. She tames the boys and is the voice of reason. She calmly steps up and accepts having to walk the plank rather than join Hook and she takes the lead when doing so. She never once had to raise her voice or pick up a sword to do any of it. Her strength was feminine, and it was strength none the less.

Modern creators see that and they misinterpret her femininity and her maternal instincts as weakness and misogyny, when in reality she's the most powerful character in the movie.
