It is for me. I don’t like it when an immigrant makes fun of our politics and gets paid for it. Same reason I tuned out to John Oliver. He was at least funny from time to time.

Ive seen him do a stand-up special and I thought it was really funny. You're right I cn't do his show at all. So, I have no idea about him doing the show from home now.

What this really comes down to is "why is CC still pushing the show after it's fallen so far without Stewart?"

They do so not because of the success it is (or rather, isn't) but because of the success it used to be. Some cannot seem to stop looking at something that has become a failure through the lens of its past successes. I saw this in my younger years in radio where advertisers would continue to flock to what was once a perennial powerhouse station but had since gotten so lazy and unfocused with their format that more people listened to their cassettes than the actual station (luckily for the station, Nielsen didn't count that).

I was a HUGE Daily Show with Jon Stewart fan as well as a fan of the Colbert Report. Trevor Noah isn’t funny, like at all, on the Daily Shoe. Which is strange because his standup is very funny. Colbert stopped being funny when he started playing himself on CBS instead of the Colbert character he had created for Comedy Central

I agree with everything you said here, except I would call Trevor Noah's stand up decent. But his standup is so much better than what he is doing on daily show from a comedic standpoint that it makes his standup look good. The daily show is unwatchable and it's because of him.

Because even though it's getting whipped by Fox and MSNBC it's still one of the highest rated cable networks.

I thought the same...his already weak material falls even more flat without a crowd hooting and hollering for every trump joke.

Let’s also be honest here, every late night host except for Fallon and Conan have become political and a different version of the Daily Show. When Stewart was in his prime, he was going up against Leno & Letterman who never let politics dominate the show. So the Daily Show had an angle. Now they’re all doing it and basically competing for the same audience. When Jimmy Kimmel, the same guy from the Man Show, is lecturing people about health care and Seth Meyers is devoting and entire episode to dissecting the Mueller Report, you realize what late night comedy has become.

Plus comedy more or less sucks now because of the PC police. Not trying to be the curmudgeon but it’s true. That’s why comedians like Seinfeld & Dave Chappelle are so vocal about it.

The promos are too much for me to endure. I suspect the actual show is as bad as the OP suggested. I have never watched.

Daily Show is just a regular talk show. He's not funny - some of his between the scenes things i've seen (i haven't watched the actual show in years) are mildy interesting and sometime (IMO) insightful. But you're right my impression is it ain't comedy anymore its like a light version of 60 minutes or Nightline.

Trevor Noah seems like a diversity hire gone wrong and now they can't take it back. And he has a NY audience that wants him to succeed so they watch even though he's not great.

I really can't rationalize it, I see clips because they show them on the CBS Morning Show as part of the "World in 60 seconds" highlights and they always cut back to the desk at the hosts awkwardly laughing at something that wasn't even remotely funny. Just anti Trump nonsense without any kid of edge or clever point.

Dude is getting the last laugh on all of us, though

quote:

Three years ago, Trevor paid $10 million for a never-lived-in-before 3,596-square-foot penthouse in Hell’s Kitchen — which was initially listed for $12,995,000. It comes with 3 bedrooms, 3 full and 2 1/2 bathrooms, and a generous terrace with killer NYC skyline views.

I admit to being as right wing conservative AF and I thought Stewart and Colbert were hilarious. When you can make fun of both sides equally well, or even make somebody laugh when you’re making fun of their side, you’re good at your craft.

I just cringe when you go after one side and one side only. Noah has never even elicited a smile from me outside of his stand up.

There was a thread about the Onion vs the Babylon Bee on the OTL. Onion was funny to me back in the 2000s but when they just started going after the right exclusively it was a turn off. I can admit that the BB is obviously right leaning but some of their best stuff is making fun of Trump or people who blindly worship him.

Dude is an unfunny douche. I’m amazed he still has a show that he can sit their and cry about the President for 30 minutes.

For paying ten million for a three bedroom home? Yeah he really got me.

I think one reason I hate him so much is because he seems to think he is hilarious. Like even in the promos, when he makes a joke he has this look on his face like “come on guys, amirite??” It just seems so smug and douchey. Which is fine if you are actually funny (see Spade, Stewart, etc). But when you’re not it just stands out as bad.

I honestly started this thread expecting some pushback, but it is basically universally anti Noah. Except for the downvoters of the OP that haven’t come in and defended their stances yet.

Just shows how un funny TN really is. Also, I hate when foreigners make fun of our country and culture. It's not funny when they do it.

You know what someone needs to have the balls to do? Put up a semi conservative comedian in one of these shows. We need some alternative humor. Every time I watch one of these guys it’s whining about some super liberal cause. We get it. Climate change can be an issue. But a handful of cars in San Fran won’t make a difference.

This thread is an embarrassing right wing circle jerk. Biglego saying "I lean right" you've got to be kidding me. Lean?? You people make Sean Hannity seem like James Carville.

"I loved Jon Stewart" yeah right if Jon Stewart was hosting today you all would hate him for making fun of your boy Trump. Don't try to act like you guys are objective. It's ridiculous.
