I feel like that was a play on Richie's "I wear suits now" schtick. Just fun acting all around.

In the industry smoking gets you breaks. You can take smoke breaks. Non smokers cannot. When I was a cook 20+ years ago I carried cigarettes so I could take breaks but I just gave them out.
I can't take the smell at all.

Meh, she only dropped the ball by hesitating as long as she did. Her going to the line in that situation was 100% the right thing to do.

There are two things she wants in this world

-a michelin star
-approval from her father

She got one of those and wasn’t even happy. She’s 100% questioning whether she has what it takes.

And that wasn’t her only foul up. They had to refire a number of dishes as she let them get cold.

I like Tina. She may be my favorite character on the show.

My wife pointed out Claire’s eyebrows and it totally got in my head, lol.

I’m slowly working my way through season 2, and last night I watched the “Fishes” family Christmas episode. It was fantastic. So tonight I was expecting a bit of a step backwards with “Forks.” Instead, they ended up making one of my favorite episodes of television in the last several years. Just perfect.

Forks was just incredible tv

A very very underrated part of it was Garrett's story of redemption. He loves this shite. It saved him from the bottle and hell hole he was in before. And there's no way Richie is gonna disrespect or try to take that from him.

Just watched it the other day. One of the best, if not the best, episodes of the series to this point.

Richie's arc has been great and the actor has done a phenomenal job.

Agreed. And that's how I know this is great writing/acting: I hated Richie in the first season. He was an anchor around Carmy's neck because he was such a knucklehead.

But they let him live/breathe and he got a chance to grow. Goddamn, that's good art.

Great season just finished it yesterday. I hope Carm and Claire end up together.

I love this show, I do hope it doesn’t go past 4 seasons or so. Just because it’s so intense and all of the characters are constantly so miserable (other than Fak ), I don’t know if I can take it for too long. I want them to succeed and have a really strong end to the series.

Really hoping the writers strike doesn’t nerf this show.

Yeah we took a break after Fishes but finally finished the season last night.

I know Fishes got a ton of praise, and deservedly so, but Forks is one of the best episodes of TV of all time imo.

The subtlety and pacing is the exact opposite of the commotion and frenzy of Fishes and I just found it much more unique and ultimately memorable.

The show is so good and yeah I really hope it doesn’t get lost in the wake of the strike because I really want to see what this crew cooks up next

When it all clicks into place for Richie at the fancy restaurant , you can tell he’s found his purpose .. man that was just so good .

Basically throughout the whole first season I would scream at the TV for Carmy to just fire him because he had no purpose

Everyone likes to talk about the Christmas episode, but I think Richie's episode is the best of the entire series.

There were at least a couple payoff moments in the finale too from that experience that were nice to see.

He's really transformed into one my favorite characters and I echo the sentiment that Forks is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen.

I agree that Forks is far more enjoyable, and probably the best episode.

As I have said previously, though, watching them back to back was really excellent. The juxtaposition of the chaos and tranquility, the complete lunacy versus perfect harmony…a great night of TV.

Late to the party here. Show is fantastic. What a gut punch of a season finale.

Same, we watched the S2 finale last night and it was heartbreaking on many levels.

I will be shocked if in Season 3, Richie doesn't hook up with the dark-haired girl at the fancy restaurant. She gave him every opening possible when he was leaving. Bet he reaches out to learn her "system" for controlling the kitchen and things go from there.
