S3 I'd like to see a flashback episode of Carmy in NYC when he was CDC, also the moment he found out about Mike's death.

Or even an episode of flashbacks showcasing Carmy's genius in the kitchen at noma or elsewhere...him drawing further and further away from family and at the same time becoming better and better as a chef.

Agreed. They've hinted at his genius without showing much.

Finished the other night. Incredible TV. Most riveting show, episode to episode, that I think I've ever watched. There are no duds.

I do think she did a good amount of heavy lifting on the menu.

But, I think she realized she was weak at the end of episode 10 when she wasn’t even happy that everyone loved the food.

She couldn’t handle it and had to let Richie take over. Granted, she had some cover as they absolutely needed another chef on the line with Carmy and the crackhead not available, but she dropped the ball and she knows it.

I don't hate Sydney, but she can be incredibly insufferable at times due to her immaturity. That's the point though, while she has some lived experience in failure and loss, she hasn't experienced the depth of the grind that it will take to achieve what she wants to achieve. And as we've seen with Carmy, that takes serious personal sacrifice. And a fair amount of loneliness as a result.

She's a capable chef with some promise but she has a lot of growing up to do to get on the level she's shooting for.

damn, that Christmas episode was tough

That amazing callback to the chocolate-covered banana (when it was delivered as a "surprise" to Uncle Jimmy) hit me right in the dadgum feels.

As the season went on I softened on Sydney a little bit.

She is just a typical Millenial/Zoomer that wants to bypass a lot of steps and thinks they are more important than they are

Finished season 2 last night. Damn, what a great show.

Random thoughts-

I hated Richie in season 1, Forks episode killed that. Awesome character arc.

I don't hate Sydney, I think she's the perfect entitled young professional that thinks showing up, dressed the part, automatically demands respect. I don't get why Carm gives it though.

Jamie Lee Curtis kills. If she doesn't bring home hardware for this series, it'll be a travesty.

Seven Fishes made me need a cigarette and a bourbon. Amazing an hour of TV can get you there.

I pray the writing holds up for another season.

I might be in the minority but I thought she killed it a little too hard if you know what I mean.

So I am doing a rewatch of John Adams as I hadn't seen it since it came out in 2008 and there pops up Richie as a grown John Quincy Adams.

Because Carm sees talent in her, and does not want to be the same insufferable mentor that Joel McHale was to him. It's a simultaneous redemption arc for him.

Right, he's trying to be the opposite of the guy he worked for.

And some of that is detrimental. Because while talented, Sydney does not seem to be ready or even cut out for her role.

My wife has been telling me that I needed to watch this series. I finally started season 1 on Wednesday and already finished both seasons. Great series

Indeed. Can't Hardly Wait and Strange Currencies were perfect bookends to episodes.

Has anyone tried a drinking game for every time they “chef” or “cousin”? Seriously though it’s a great show, and Richie and Carm kill it.

I think Carm also sees a little bit of his younger self in her as well.

Meh, she only dropped the ball by hesitating as long as she did. Her going to the line in that situation was 100% the right thing to do.
