Street Fighter, anyone else see it? No Spoilers

I saw it last night, just a great stupid but fun movie. Felt like my childhood, everyone was wearing 90s stuff and gear, 90s music. Definitely a bit more graphic in nature than I anticipated.
I mean let's be honest, there is no story line so it's hard to make a decent movie on this. It didn't try to take itself too seriously, some nice eye candy, well done for the most part, great fan service to the game.
Wayyy better then the original one for sure. I don't know what they were doing with Blanka though...those parts were for sure cringey. I also don't remember the character Joe from the game, but apparently it was an obscure character from the game.

I saw it and thought it needed to be a bit less serious. I enjoyed it, but I think a little more focus on the tournament and a bit more goofiness would have gone along way. Also Andrew Schultz was surprisingly good.

Jason Momoa has been cranking out some films lately.

This is all I am hoping for with it. If they lean heavily into the cheese of it and approach it from a nonsensical "video game" angle (and based on the trailers, that seems to be the case), it should be great.

I had full intentions on going to see it but the reviews scared me away. Said the story was terrible and they didn't focus on the fights as much as they should have.

my complaint with the 90s Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat was that Street Fighter took itself too seriously and Mortal Kombat didn't take itself seriously enough.

Nah. Go. It was fricking awesome. As far as “fighting video game movies” go, it trumps the OG Mortal Kombat for me and I love the OG Mortal Kombat. This movie lives up to the trailer tone and then some. Sure there are a couple of things it could’ve done better, but the people behind it actually care about the source material (which shouldn’t be hard to f up but so many writing teams do with the simplest backstories) and there are numerous nods to the prior films. And looks like we should be getting some sequels too. My biggest complaint going into it was the Bison choice and it was the biggest complaint leaving the theater too. John Cena would’ve been a perfect Bison.
Dastmalchian is a great actor and plays creepy really well, but he’s not some imposing badass. And he just doesn’t seem believable as Bison.
Also was thinking how hilarious it would’ve been had a fighter that lost one of the matches turned around to face the camera with their loss face
I’d give this one an 8, OG Mortal Kombat 7.5, and the two recent Mortal Kombats a 4 and 4.5.
KILLER soundtrack as well

Hollup, the newest MK was way better than a 4.

I saw it last night too. I was getting bored towards the end
I didn't like Bison that much. I liked Ken and Ryu and Guile. Casting was mostly good.

I don’t trust your opinion because you didn’t like the most recent Mortal Kombat. That movie was fun af.

Best way to sum it up. Enjoyed watching it with my son. Stuff that is heavy 90s always gets me with the nostalgia.

Will never beat the Van Damme street fighter. That was pinnacle cinema.

dude - Urban's Cage and Barraka need to have a Buddy Cop style movie

Will watch it when it hits streaming just to see Rayna, who plays Juli. She and my son competed on the same martial arts circuit and trained under the same guy. Known her since she around 10 yrs. old. She was also on Cobra Kai and was in the SI Swimsuit issue.

I was very excited from the trailers but even the attention to real game play fighting moves didn't save this one from being disjointed and a little boring. There was something in the tone and screenplay that just didn't work. I did appreciate the faithfulness to character style and moves though.

I would watch this for multiple 24 episode seasons on the CW. They could literally just remake every episode of Supernatural, beat for beat, with occasional guest appearances by Kano.
