I like going to the movies and seeing a fun movie. I don’t like watching torture porn, movies about how white people were really mean to minorities 70+ years ago, talking animal cgi for brainrot ipad children, or the women in colorful dresses and posh accents cheating on their husbands movie de jure. I want to be entertained, and I would appreciate a few laughs. Since Hollywood largely stopped making ensemble comedies and buddy action comedy movies 10 years ago, quippy comic book films are just about the only things that occasionally fill that niche.

In addition, Spiderman was my favorite character as a kid. The stories of a kid grappling with responsibilities, family, work, relationships, and trying to do right for his community really struck a chord with young me. The movies are mostly good, and occasionally great. Spiderman 2 with Toby McGuire is a masterpiece, and all the Tom Holland Spiderman movies have been solid. Even the Andrew Garfield ones are “so bad it’s good”.

Sometimes, it’s fun to watch a flawed sweet kid with adult problems wear a colorful suit, swing around NYC, punch bad guys, and try to get the girl for a couple of hours. It ain’t complicated.

NWH made me wish we could get more Garfield movies.

Great movie. Felt mature. Was worried about the tone in the initial teaser and trailer but it nails an emotionally out of it spiderman and detached Peter. Will watch again.

Love them all tbh but I'm biased cuz I fricking love Spiderman

Just got out of the theater, saw it in 3D (which was a mistake, would not suggest as it made the film itself too dark at times and didn't add much of anything).

The storyline was decent, felt a little anti-climactic at the end and some of the pacing could've been better. It leaned on less action and more of a deep dive into the psychology of being Spiderman in a world where nobody remembered him, and how Peter was coming to grips with it. What action there was, was very well choreographed and CGI fantastic.

Also not as much humor in this one as the previous entries.

I can't discuss it too much more without spoilers so I'll just leave it at this: it's definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of Spiderman or the MCU, for someone that isn't a big fan it'll feel very "meh" as it doesn't work well as a standalone "fun summer action" film.

ETA: the post credits scene (there's only one and it's about 5 seconds) isn't worth sticking around for. Just read the spoiler description of it, as it's already been revealed what it means and the scene itself is worthless.

Just got out of the theater. This movie is really really good.
