Thunderbolts was really good and did poor at the box office
Fantastic Four was solid and didn't do great
Superman was solid and it did just alright
Spidey just seems to be fatigue proof

Yeah, I see your point. But everyone that saw those went into them expecting them to not be good and they were pleasantly surprised. And besides Thunderbolts they were reboots that have been done over and over again. This iteration of Spider-Man has established it as very watchable and this one might have been the best yet. Also, the new Superman being sent to enslave earth kind of takes it out of the solid category to me. Spidey is fatigue proof because people expect great things and it delivers so I think my point still stands.

There are no "Supergirl fans." This is a Black Widow level character and they made her the second movie out the gate. No one cares.
Plus the fact that they modeled the movie off a version of the character most people don't recognize as Supergirl even if they try to follow the character.
Then they did the "lead actress antagonizes primary audience" thing.
Just a whole lot of stupid to go around.
