quote:

The British TV show The Prisoner follows a James Bond-like character trapped in a strange, psychedelic Village, leading to a battle of wits as he tries to escape, and his captors try to extract information from him.

quote:

A history of action and espionage movies has led to broad speculation that Nolan might direct Bond 26, but The Prisoner is his more likely project at this point. Some of Nolan's past stars have the potential to lead his movie remake of The Prisoner as the secret agent protagonist, known as "Number Six." Additionally, Nolan's remake may involve expanding the roles of some characters or creating new ones within the sci-fi world of the original show. Nonetheless, many actors at his disposal are suited to different character archetypes common in the sci-fi, mystery, and action genres.

Don't kid yourself. I thought for sure he would play it straight with Oppenheimer but he clearly can't help himself

Let’s quit dancing around it and let the man do a Bond film FFS.

Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to.

* They'll screw this up too with 'current day' mess. Just watch.

Remaking The Prisoner is something that has potential.

The biggest problem I can see is that taking it out of being episodic to making it a movie will change up the atmosphere quite a bit IMHO.

The lack of consistency in rules of The Village from episode to episode is a big part of what makes things so unsettling in addition to the “Big Brother is watching” elements. Whenever Number 6 thinks he has things figured out, they change things up to frick with him. I don’t think that element will translate well to film.

Yeah, sort of. If I recall, it was a more straightforward SciFi drama, without the kookiness and charm of the original.

Part of why the original worked like it did was because Patrick McGoohan pretty much went out of his way to frick with people.

How many other series would do something like having a completely random western episode and have it feel like it is part of the show and not just a random script?

Worth a 2 day drive to see in 70mm IMAX. Twice. Any other way is inferior and garbage.
