Looks good. But good enough for going to theaters to see it?

I’m going to the theaters to see it and I’ll be watching the four hour Director’s Cut (confirmed by Ridley) when it’s released on Apple+

As a history guy I will probably make an effort to see it. I think it has the ingredients to be really good.

Why is Napoleon's lip fricked up?

I love Joaquin Phoenix as an actor but I have no idea why they cast a 48-year-old to portray Napoleon in his late '20s and early '30s. Plus they cast 35-year-old Vanessa Kirby as Josephine. Josephine was six years older than Napoleon and everybody knows how important the older woman-younger man dynamic factored in their relationship.

If they really wanted Phoenix as Napoleon, they should have hired an older actress over 50 to portray Josephine. And if they were going to cast Kirby as Josephine, they should have hired a younger actor born in the early '90s to be Napoleon. Having both Phoenix as Napoleon and Kirby as Josephine makes no sense whatsoever.

I can't wait to see it and it looks like it will be great, but the fact that it's a Ridley Scott movie also tells me it will have lots of historical inaccuracies.

Really hope this is good. I’m concerned they’re going to go the Alexander the Great route and focus so much on background and intense moments the actual telling of the story will suffer.

Gladiator was probably the movie that did the best job of pulling off both so that gives me hope for this.

Will be seeing it in the theater. Can't believe Scott is 85.

The American accent on Napoleon is throwing me off.

Would a British accent like we usually see in history movies throw you off?

Everyone has an accent except for Napoleon?

I'm no movie expert like some on here, but that just seems stupid AF.

Not as much as an American accent. Though I'd prefer a French accent.

Even if he just had the same accent as everyone else, it wouldn't be that bad. But he doesn't and it makes this whole thing seem very elementary right off the bat.

Somehow, Phoenix looks even older in this trailer.

Or they could have used 2 different actors to play Napoleon. He was 16 when he became a lieutenant general and 46 when his 2nd reign ended.

He was a Colonel at the Siege of Toulon at 23.

And it really really sounds Italian, not just in language but in tone...as an Italian dialect...interesting how Napoleon sounded speaking French (which he learned around 10 years old) with that accent.
