It's because the morons in Hollywood are blinded by personal agendas and ultra left wing politics… they sabotaged themselves not even thinking twice it would cost them financially and the market would bear that out.

Everyone in that town was either afraid speak the truth or they legitimately could not see their stance turning off most of the their audience.

Richard Roeper was attacked online and threatened just for giving an honest review and saying the movie sucked. That is why the rotten tomatoes critics score does not reflect the public's score. They intentionally lied and gave the film good reviews… very sick and disturbing industry it has become.

Then you don't have the people bitching about rehashing already existing story-lines or it being PC. It would've given the new film validity as well if it had cameo's from the original cast to set it up. I really just don't get it.

I saw it, not at the theater, and it just wasn't very funny. That is a slight problem when you are marketing a movie as a comedy. All female cast. All male cast. All red headed left handed Albanian midget cast. If the jokes don't work it doesn't matter who you cast in the movie.

I don't think this was entirely premeditated. It does seem as though, at some point, a decision was made to defend the movie from criticism on the basis of the gender of the stars... but I don't think they set out to make a political statement so much as fell into that position to try and salvage the movie after it was done (and began to be criticized).

I think those executives just sort of latched onto some of the Saturday Night Live cast members to do a reboot and ended up with it being political because they didn't have another obvious way to try and crush the critics. Undoubtedly the decision to use social media in the way they did says something about their politics - but if you gave Sony the choice between producing a movie like Transformers and a movie like bowling for columbine they'd happily take Transformers.

I like how James Rolfe said he wasn't gonna even watch the movie to give it a review. He caused a lot of asshurt over that one.

Hey, all I said was it wasn't as bad as everyone said. I never said it was good. I liked McKinnon and Hemsworth.

Thats the thing though, McKinnon is a legitimately talented and funny girl, and she seemed overshadowed by far less talented, not funny cast in the ads. Hemsworth is also easily the biggest star in the movie but they barely marketed him being in the movie because of politics and agenda. They made so many huge mistakes.

Yes, it's going to be called Ocean's 8. Supposedly they got Sandra Bullock and Kate Blanchett already locked up.

Watch them tap that unfunny piece of shite Leslie Jones too.

it's a flop mostly because that production budget is ridiculous. Why did it cost that much? Granted it i haven't seen it, but the new Wolverine movie is in the neighborhood of $80M.. Just not seeing how the studio would green light at that price point.

I was a part of a reboot last year and the film was made for $32M and had very large sets. Despite poor reviews it made $100M worldwide and turned a profit.
Not sure why they couldn't make this for $60M.

Oceans 8
quote:

The new movie has a cast that’s reported to star Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Banks, Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling. Jennifer Lawrence has been linked too, but her involvement is very much up in the air, given her crowded schedule.

I think it could be good with the right casting. They need to lock down a great matriarch character. Helen Mirren would be perfect imo. Throw in Chloë Grace Moretz and a young dumb hottie and I'd watch. Now can all of those actresses work together? Who knows.

No.

The Clooney versions are an homage to the rat pack.

What, they're going to do a reboot of an homage?

It's a moronic idea

thing is, if they were more agreeable about it I may have noticed (not that I liked the originals all that much) but the in-your-face, it you don't like this something is wrong with you crap is never going to win me over. I am contrary about shite like that.

I actually gained some respect for Melissa McCarthy for her last clip on that.

I think this really shows human beings issues dealing with statistics. Sometimes 100 angry people on a comment stream does not project onto the entire society. Not every single event us projectible, sometimes they are isolated ya know?

So, just curious. It's about to be on video October 11.......

Is it really that bad? Like if I were to get really baked would it still be horrible? Is there anything redeeming in entertaining about it or is it stupid?

If so I really hate that they tarnished the classics and the brand name with it.

It's on par with Ghostbusters 2, IMO. I never found GB2 to be a great movie or even a good movie, it was a passable sequel. This movie isn't horrible, had it not been a reboot of ghostbusters and instead a stand alone I think people would have liked it more.

This. Plus, if the actors and directors had not been complete dicks to everyone, the backlash would have been lower.

The studio deleted regular negative comments and only left sexist and childishly racist comments.

The actors and director were likely under orders.
