The two that immediately came to my mind (Grave of the Fireflies and United 93) have already been mentioned.

So I'll throw a few French mid-00 horror flicks out there: Irreversible and Inside. Great flicks but didn't need second viewings.

Yep. I feel like this is a good example of maybe you missed something the first time and it clicks on a rewatch.

Or hell maybe you are just in a different stage of life so it registers differently.

There have been good movies that i tuned out on first watch or cut off only to go back later and enjoy
