I replied to a poster about the casino scenes. While the canto bight scenes are useless, I don't think it's as bad as the Anakin/padme scenes.

Oh, no doubt. TLJ is a legitimately bad movie, and a truly horrific SW movie, for more reasons than just political grandstanding. That's my point. The only way it can possibly be defended is to talk about how brave it is, and only progressive loons are going to do that, which is why it has become a left/right flash point.

Yeah, my Leftie friends hate TLJ too. The ones who like TLJ don’t like Star Wars and just want to take it over and call the fans pieces of shite.

There isn’t a single interesting character in the movie outside of Han and Chewie and even then the writing for Han was dookie. There’s no memorable action scene, no purpose to the movie. They took one of the top 5 most interesting characters from the OT and made him bland and everything we learned about him in the trilogy happened in a week.
It wasn’t as bad as TLJ which came right before, so for some reason people think it was good when in reality, it was marginable better than the worst movie in the franchise. At least Rise had some quality moments in it even if the whole was trash. Solo did nothing for Star Wars except make Han, Chewie, and Lando look like a group of incompetent nutsacks, Hangover-style.

I think TLJ suffered from extremely poor writing some of which was them trying to be PC but also some it was them trying subvert expectations. The Rose stuff was by far the dumbest shite in the movie, poor Finn was finally about to do something worth a damn in the series and fricking Rose ruins it and gives some dumb arse speech
