I hate Hollywood wokeness as much as the next guy but some of y’all are reaching with this movie.

I think they spent too much time world building. I was initially interested in this but the movie starts to drag.

Insofar as woke messaging, it seems like nph’s dialogue is a send up of wokeness. Everyone is getting so fixated on trinity’s powers, but couldn’t you make an argument that the underlying theme is that a man and a woman working together is a powerful force? Art is subjective and you could make the argument that it’s a story about how men and women need each other?

Just playing devils advocate for all you fellas who want to see everything in purely political terms.

I just wanted some Kung fu and bullet time. I got one fight scene and someone screaming about bullet time in the context of making a game. Hell, I didn't get the point of the after credits scene

They spent way too much time setting up the initial premise and catching the audience up on the time between revolutions and resurrections.

There was some good stuff in this movie but there was just waaaaay too much exposition. The hallmark of a truly good film is if it can stand on its own merits, too much reliance on callbacks here.

That atrocious female cover version of Rage Against the Machine over the ending credits basically sums up the movie.

Is "sentients" a pronoun? When someone addresses you as idiot instead of by your name, do you get mad?

I took it the same as calling a human a monkey.

Sentient vs machines.

Jesus they definitely have tried to shove an agenda in some shows, but some of y’all are ridiculously sensitized to the point of looking for it.

Woke checklist:
Female in the Matrix to save Neo
Female captain of the ship
Female General
Gay dude wanting to bang Neo
White male hero no longer has power. Is incompetent and lost.

Neo had power almost from the start….He wasn’t what he was before, but you wouldn’t expect him to suddenly hit the ground running.

As for the rest…..nothing really seemed out of context. It fit in the story. Isn’t that what is often (correctly) argued here? Diversity is good as long as it is part of the story, and not shoehorned in?

For example, who should have been the clear leader over Niobe? Most of the other leadership characters would be expected to be dead after a sixty year time jump with the exception of the military commander in 2/3….who if left to follow through with his plans would have caused all free humans to be killed, and Morpheus, who was killed in the fall of Zion.

All the anti-woke people are just some Foreign person trying to get us all worked up. It’s Christmas Igor I’m not getting mad today.

On a real note Movie was a little disappointing. I thought the movie would have been better if they stuck with the whole is he crazy thing. Maybe bring in that new game they were creating

Just watched it. It was pretty awful, but other than Trinity being "a the one" I didn't see any strong woke themes. There was the vague negativity toward "binary things, but that would seem to be undone by the movie's conclusion. I must have missed the part where they supposedly reclaimed the "red pill" phrase from conservatives, because every reference to it seemed to validate its current definition.

It was just bad.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. It did seem to have potential in a couple of areas, but I just didn't give a shite what happened to anyone in this movie, especially gay robo=Morpheus.

I thought some of the fight sequences were old school in the good way

Thinking back to how cerebral the trilogy was, that was really sad

I expected woke siliness but I didn't expect a purely nostalgic cash grab. I felt the story might actually be redeemable and be muddied by stupidness. Turned out it was just shite all around

I realized towards the end I didn't care if Niobe and Io burned to the ground. What a failure

I will say I love NPH in a villain role, but the Analyst is still comically inferior to the Architect

The wachowski sisters are batshit insane so I’m sure they tried to shoehorn some of their views into the movie, but none of them really landed to me. Making Trinity “equally powerful” to Neo was a bit on the nose, but whatever. This is hardly the first time we’ve seen that.

The 2nd half of the movie was a discombobulated mess that seemed to drag on for hours, but never really got to the point. Like someone else said, I spent most of the movie just waiting for it to end.

Someone explain to me like I’m an idiot why the machines would A.) bring Smith back, and B.) let him anywhere Neo after the two of them pretty much destroyed the original Matrix single handedly.

Somehow, he returned

Smith is the Anomaly opposite of Neo. As Neo began to pull out of the new Matrix in the scene in the office, Smith begins to pull out of it as well. Smith only gains his power once Neo take sthe red pill, right?

Also it looks as though the Architect somehow didn't compensate or realize a powerful Smith anomaly was possible, so he can't control him in his Matrix.

I put it on and tried to watch, but after about 10-15 minutes of utter boredom, I bailed. It was just... dull.

Ended up watching Star Wars (New Hope) on Disney+ instead.

From my understanding, Wachowski didn't actually want to make it. At least that was what I got from one of the reviews I watched (now I have to go find it - was it Drinker? It might have been Drinker).

Definitely feel the line in the movie saying Warner Bros we’re going to make a sequel to the matrix with or without the creators was a deliberate, non subtle jab at them.
