I felt like it was textbook entrapment, and I feel for a man that is trying to reclaim his life for his family and be the alpha provider ... but they were apparently living well beyond their means and he thought he found an easy way out by dealing cocaine.
Any O-T baller who was watched this doc started sweating nervously once they found out he was a concrete contractor who lost all his toys during the downturn.
That aside, this doc was pretty funny. the druggy basically makes the entire thing.
"I wasnt in withdrawal it was the lobster, dude"

I believe everyone except the main guy was an actor. All the people are real life people, but they used actors for the interview parts except the main guy.

I think the actors were just in the reenacted scenes.

That was terrible and a complete waste of time.

Do you guys think the cops really dug up the cocaine?
Posted on 4/1/19 at 9:50 pm to CrimsonFever
Nah. They fricked that guy over.

Since Puerto Rico is a US Territory. I would think the US Feds would only need to make a phone call to get somebody out there digging. I think they probably did dig it up but not beyond a reasonable doubt

I tried this, but couldn't make it through the first 30 mins.

Thought it was only OK. Worth a watch, but nothing more. I felt bad for the guy, but he was clearly knowingly breaking the law. He is very lucky that he got the judge he got.
I don't feel sorry for him and his family living in a trailer, since they clearly lived way above their means when things were going good. They obviously didn't own much when things were going good.

One of those weird situations where everyone is somewhat in the right and the wrong.
What the govt did was fricked up, but Rodney was so damn naive. That dude is lucky to be alive. He’s lucky in a way that he got railroaded by the cops.
The judge is the best part of the story. He managed to turn a frankly stupid situation into a net positive for the community. That’s pretty cool.
I also had a hard time getting through the first part of the doc for the person that bailed. Man it was slow, dragging arse, and overproduced (imo). Was really fun story by the end though.

You summed my thoughts perfectly. It was entrapment but he was also an idiot. And getting 60 days in jail and 5 years of habitat for humanity work is likely a way better outcome for him than had he actually found some real smugglers to work with.

The judge did the right thing but man at some point you would think that the DEA/police would just ask themselves, can we live with what we are about to do to this idiot

I liked it. I want to go hang out and have a few drinks with his buddy. That guy is a character.
IDK if I completely feel sorry for this dude. He trusted this cast of characters pretty blindly and the fact that Carlos was willing to go pick up the bag after receiving the gps locations should have sent red flags up his spine.
Also, Dee's little speech at the end about "Making it in America" and how "He got what was coming to him" was kind of ridiculous. That dude has no business preaching right and wrong to people.

Just saw it, that was textbook entrapment to me. Glad the judge was lenient

quote:I think that just further illustrates just how gullible this guy is. Hell, you’d have to be partially in fantasy land just to believe some stoner-hippy’s story that he buried millions of dollars of cocaine on some island.

quote:Yeah, frick that guy. Talking about making it in America and all of his sanctimonious bullshite ... dude was a fricking drug dealer who’d be serving life in prison if he hadn’t had someone to rat out to the cops.
