I have been putting off seeing this for a while. I'm thinking about renting it.
How does it compare to like Troy? I liked Troy.
Is it better than Alexander?

Watch it. I really enjoyed it. It would have it slightly down from Troy, but it is at least in the discussion for being that good.

If you watch it, watch the director's cut. The theatrical version is a mess. The director's cut is quite good, way better than Troy.

i liked it but it did have a couple glaring problems:
super cheesy "every man a knight" speech
Bloom becomes a master swordsman and tactician in a matter of days
good movie though. the visuals are great and i like how they tried to recreate the battle of Hattin but not too much

Better than Troy, waaayyy better than Alexander which was a gay flick but not as good as Gladiator.

Not even remotely close to Troy. I thought it was OK, not to special, but not bad.

Good movie with a good view from both sides of the crusades. Way better than alexander and the battles seem to be more authentic than troy but troy has has way better acting.

Decided to go ahead watch it. Better than I thought it would be. Bloom put on some muscle for it and like you said Edward Norton did good as the king.

I liked it and own the non-director's cut. I need to see the director's cut though, is it available on amazon? I've tried looking for it at Blockbuster but to no avail. And I too did not realize that was Ed Norton.

I'm glad you watched it. I was just going to say that I was pleasently surprised at how good it was. It wasn't great, and it had some definite anachronisms, but it was good. I was afraid about the cast list. Sometimes movies that are really top heavy can suck.

Like others have said, watch the directors cut. It makes a big difference. I really enjoyed this movie.
