re: Just started the Rocky movies (update page 3)

Rocky is a legitimately great film. Crazy to think Stallone actually wrote that movie, but he was a genius to hold out on selling it until he finally got a studio to agree to let him play the lead role. Obviously it made his career.
Rocky III and Rocky IV are more or less the same movie, only in one of them he beats Mr. T, and in the other he beats the Soviet Union. Obviously both of these are stupid awesome, with emphasis on the “stupid” part. Turn your brain off and enjoy.
I haven’t seen Rocky II in quite a while, but I remember it being both boring and touching at different times. It suffers from being a bit of a retread of the first movie, except that in this one [spoiler alert] they let him win in the end, which honestly destroys the entire theme of the original, but I digress.
I’ve never seen any of the movies past the fourth. There was nowhere to take the series past that point that would have made any sense, unless he competed in the Space Olympics for the fate of the solar system or something.

It is my favorite, but I can understand people not liking it. It's more about life than boxing. the scene when Adrian wakes up is one of my favorite scenes in any movie.

Yes. Besides V, the first half of II is the most boring of any Rocky movie.
Once Adrian comes out of coma, that's when it picks up to be a very good 2nd half.

1. Rocky - the Original - excellent movie in every way. Gritty, raw, triumph of the human spirit themed movie. The beginning of the Stallone empire.
2. Rocky III - Getting the Eye of the Tiger Back
3. Rocky IV - Avenging Apollo, Beating Toughest Opponent Ever
4. Rocky Balboa - Would be higher had his opponent not been Antonio Tarver (Mason Dixon) - Terrible Casting
5. Creed - I liked this one as the mentor and trainer
6. Creed II - Have not seen this one. Still better than the 2 listed below.

Not a single standing 8 count. No point deductions, even with body slams and double leg takedowns. That fight should have been stopped in the 1st round.

There is nothing like the rawness of Rocky. It is an awesome underdog story. If I am surfing channels and run across it, I will always stop and watch it through. It is timeless.

Rocky IV was the best movie.
Not near the top, but I actually enjoyed Rocky V more than most.
Balboa was surprisingly good. Some of the best Rocky speeches in this one. Flew under the radar, so most haven’t seen it.

Rocky 1 is great definitely deserving of it's best picture win.
Rocky 2 solid entertainment.
Rocky 3 and 4 80s cheese.
Rocky 5 is garbage.
