Watched it this morning, enjoyed it. Always been a fan of Jon and I’m a conservative. Remember when Colbert was the voice of the conservative after taking over for Jon back in the 2000s? And that guy turned out to be a leftist loon. I don’t really care if someone has a different political view than mine as long as they are able to have an adult conversation over it. Most of the left have lost their minds in this day and age though and can’t accept any wrong doing.

just the left? the left and right are like that.

Politics is devolving into cults.

touché. But see I just made a point.

I blame Twitter giving a voice to the majority of folks who shouldn’t have one. Created an echo chamber of stupidity.

I watched last night and laughed out loud several times. Look forward to his Monday appearances.

The correspondents were only on a few minutes, but they don't seem too promising. The highlight of the Stewart shows to me has always been his opening set.

I hate to break this to you, but the Colbert report was much more directly and consistently making fun of republicans than the daily show did. The entire schtick was making fun that that post 9-11 patriotic right winger troupe. If you were consuming that show as a straightforward voice of conservatism, then wow

i saw that as well and thought it had to be a joke. I was a RaRa Bush guy, and i could tell when we were being made fun of.

and i enjoyed Colbert report. kinda sad that his real personality and comedy was actually pretty bad when he didn't have a schtick.

I wasn’t but a lot of my conservative buddies were. shite you can probably go back to the 2007-2009 archives on this site and read the posts about the Daily Show. I remember it clear as day.

Do you think there is any top shelf comedian in America that won’t have fun with Trump? I don’t.

I watched the opening segment (20 minutes!) and was pleasantly surprised to see how good it was. I will keep watching if he keeps up this quality.

Biden is an infinitely bigger source of comedic material.

Between the drooling incoherent speeches, the kid-sniffing, the crack-head son, the racist jokes, the repeated lie his son died in Iraq, the overt bribery, his pathological lying, off the charts Narcissism and showering with his daughter, the sky is the limit.

Funnily enough, the Left have left him completely unscathed when compared to the way they Trump.

As someone who was an avid watcher from the time he replaced Craig Kilborn until he left he consistently did what 3nout and I mentioned. He was always funny to me heading back to half baked but his avoiding pushback when he received it(almost exclusively from conservative folk) by hiding behind the comedian angle was always cowardly to me. I have last night’s episode saved to watch this evening so I’ll see if it’s more like his shitty Apple show or a return to form.

Like they fricking arent.

Its kinda amazing reading these forums and seeing just how trivial the stuff that offends the southern conservative, all while they tell ya how masculine and tough they are.

I think the southern conservative reaction to Jon Stewart espoused on this site actually proves the opposite point you're making. Is there a lefty site that even allows positive comments about, say, Greg Gutfeld? I honestly don't know because I don't visit them.

I've always had a certain amount of respect for Jon Stewart. He has principles he believes in that I think are fundamentally flawed, but at least he seeks out and is willing to engage in civil discourse about them.

Yes this is why he’s a hack. He’ll attack and jab but when he gets push back he pussies out with this. It’s a weasel thing to do.

I don't want to defend the guy bc again, I'm anything but liberal, but he has debated people countless times on his show. He was never afraid to have conservatives on then go tit for tat with them. Bill O Reily must've been on his show a dozen times

THAT said some higher profile stuff I've seen him do like appearances on CNN and other peoples's shows (think maybe he went on Hannity's and other guys cnn show bc he was giving them so much shite?) where he has less time and on there he does have a habit of just hiding behind being a comedian

I just want to be clear he doesn't always run from a debate in fact he usually runs towards it
