He's a lefty but at least he's funny.

He's turned into a bitter liberal asshat in recent years. I mean, more than he used to be before.

I'm sure Stewart will rip Biden and Trump equally.

Jon is a huge lib that obviously skewered R's more than D's, but I always thought he was relatively fair (by very low standards), and he would rip D's very often. And he was actually funny.
All of this. I've never watched TDS regularly, but any time I did or any time I saw clips he was a good host. And like you said, I may not agree with his politics for the most part but he was at least pretty funny.
This is huge for them, as I suspect the value of TDS has gone completely off a cliff. You can't make me believe that very many people watch TDS since he left since Trevor Noah was so awful. And even moreso now that they keep trotting out as make woke democrats as possible to guest host.
I won't watch (since I never really do/have), but this is still pretty big news for CC. We'll see how unbiased he is once he's back. I've seen some things from him the last several years that make me think he's maybe cooled off the liberal idiocy, but then again I've seen other things that make me think he's still the same.
I can't imagine the boatload of money they threw at him to get him to come back, even if only temporarily.

Never watched it, even when he was there, but the commercials were so bad for the guy that has been doing it - and those are supposed to be the best parts they clip for commercials - that I stayed as far aways as I could, so this has to be an improvement.

It's just how Jewish men age.
[before I get a PM, know that Jon Stewart would approve of the joke]

I do recall when he pissed off all his lefty fans and friends by mocking the wet market theory and being outspoken on the lab leak theory before that kind of talk was allowed.

He also went hard in the paint for veterans too, didn't he? I don't remember the specifics of all of that, but I remember being impressed that someone like him was speaking out about it at the time.

this is the best news I have heard in a long time

I remember him doing that for 9/11 first responders.

he announced he was leaving a looooong time ago but has drawn it out.
What? He announced his intention to leave and left like 2 months later.
Daily show had a revolving door of guest hosts all through 2023.

I didn't even know the Daily Show was still airing.

That John Stewart is long gone per his new show. He won’t be much different than the rest of late night sans Bill Maher.
It's sad but true. I always had a great respect for Stewart as Daily Show host. That doesn't mean that I agreed with him always, but he was at least funny and did poke fun at both sides (even though mostly it was at conservatives). If you have been paying attention to him the past few years, he's shown that he's compromised and does not possess much objective skepticism at all. Just watch his interview with Andrew Sullivan on his Apple+ show. He'll still pop up and point out absurdness in government and news on occasion, like with the lab leak a couple years ago, but he seems 90% in with the woke crowd.
That being said, this is Comedy Central's last ditch effort to regain some sort of relevance. NOBODY is watching new content on that channel, outside of South Park...which is crazy. Comedy Central was much more than South Park for a long time...but is slowly going the way of MTV.

Democracy is on the line, Biden’s wrinkled 82-year old balls will be permanently on his chin. It’s a fight to save America!

Stewart will poke fun at Biden quite a lot, I imagine.
The tone of the two will be different though. It will be harmless old joe saying old man stuff, vs hitler

i thought he was still on there and they were waiting for his replacement. i don't ever turn on CC anymore now that i have Peacock and can watch random Office or P&R episodes when i want.
my bad for the false info.
