Jon Stewart is returning to The Daily Show after a nine-year absence, to lead the satirical news program through the 2024 US presidential election cycle.

Starting Feb. 12, Stewart will host the Comedy Central program every Monday night with a rotating lineup of performers anchoring the rest of the week, the network said in a statement Wednesday. Stewart will also serve as an executive producer.

“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” Chris McCarthy, president and chief executive officer of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

Damn. That's pretty big news for them.

Jon is a huge lib that obviously skewered R's more than D's, but I always thought he was relatively fair (by very low standards), and he would rip D's very often. And he was actually funny.

I'm sure he will go much harder in the paint against the right now than he did then, but I'll still give it a watch or 3

I'm not sure I watched DS even once since he left

Link that isn't behind a paywall.

I had no idea that Trevor Noah was leaving the show. The Daily Show is so far off of the public radar these days. For a while Stewart had replaced Leno and Letterman as the comedy show of record.

That John Stewart is long gone per his new show. He won’t be much different than the rest of late night sans Bill Maher.

he announced he was leaving a looooong time ago but has drawn it out.

outside the show he seems like an affable fellow, but i've never laughed once at his clips on the show.

JS coming back is funny considering his failure on A+.

Stewart had an Apple show no one even knew about and he was canceled because it was so terrible.

This basically wont even make a ripple.

Fake news used to be funny and novel.

Now it will just look like the normal news which has out-faked the fake news.

I haven't seen him in anything since leaving the DS so fair enough.

I'll give it 1 watch but will likely be annoyed by minute 5 then

regarding noah. he wasnt funny and had obvious biase toward what was covered and who was invited onto the show.

i think his strongest card was that he was actually a good interviewer with one on one talks. i rarely cared about the people he was interviewing though.

if JS is going to be the JS of old before trump broke him it may be ok to watch. last few times ive seen him on tv he has just fallen off the far left side into crazy land like a lot.

Interestingly the GOAT segment on his last stint was when he torched XiNN for fact checking Saturday Night Live.

He's gone off the deep end and isn't fooling anyone with his moderate persona anymore. He won't have the same audience.

Good God.

That's a lot of delusion wrapped up in very few words.

I always thought he was funny and had a lot of respect for him but after watching some his apple tv show, he is ate up with woke bullshite.

Can't wait for the Trump/Republican bashing every Monday while Biden (who can't even form a complete sentence) never gets mentioned.
