I like Elba, and don't have a problem with picking him as the next Bond except for the fact that he is a little long in the tooth for that role. I would figure they would want to go younger.

Idris Elba ruined a movie I waited years on and I've never seen or cared about a single James Bond movie.
It's strange that I feel happy that they are throwing him into the 007 role where he doesn't belong.

I really don't think that's the case. It's perfectly feasible that the producers think Elba has the chops to play Bond. I certainly do. He can be a suave mofo and dangerous.

Odd choice, especially when you have a younger incredibly established actor like Tom Hiddleston who is perfect for the role.

Ithink Elba is a good choice. It doesn't matter if the character in the books was white, frankly. There were certainly black people at leadt connected with the military in Britain during the Cold War. They can make this work. Elba has played a smooth detective, amd he can play Bond.

Are you talking about Dark Tower? Elba wasn't the problem with that movie. The script trying to wedge all 8 books into 90 incoherent minutes was.
Elba was fine as a hero, but that entire movie had zilch to do with Dark Tower.
I said my piece on him as Bond in the other thread, and I think he's a very good pick for the character. Elba as the hard edged, dangerous, cold ladies man is a pretty natural fit for him.
