BY MATT MILLER

"there are a lot of actors who could play 007 once Daniel Craig retires from the role he despises: Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender (even though he's Irish), Tom Hiddleston (of Hiddleswift fame), David Oyelowo (who actually voices the character in the audiobooks). Hell, even controversially-mustached human man Henry Cavill thinks he has what it takes.

But there's only one actor who should be the next James Bond, and that's Idris Elba."

I like Idris Elba but if they don't stick to Fleming's description of Bond, I won't be watching it

Why force a black man into the role? Especially Idris. He's 45 and Craig is 50.

Dont they usually try to get somebody who can stay in the role for 10+ years?

Gratned, this doesnt bother me nearly as much as them using Idris as Roland in the Gunslinger

I havent read any of the Bond novels, but I doubt his race affects the plot that much.

In the Dark Tower Series it does have an effect (of course the abortion that was the movie didnt really address any of it so that didnt matter)

Bond isn't a black man and to everyone that said "James Bond is an alias so it doesn't matter who plays him" please exit this thread because you have no clue what you're talking about.

James Bond is one man. It's not an alias

Nope. It's an obvious PC move and I won't support it. James Bond is a white British man. And it's been proven multiple times that he is one man through the entire series. His name isn't an alias

Daniel Craig doesn't fit with Ian Fleming's description... but he's white so he gets a pass on the other details?

Hair color is much easier to overlook than race. Especially in continuity

But Omar Epps playing Willie Mays Hayes in Major League II is ok because he’s black like Snipes, right?

i just find it an extreme stretch for having a black man in the role.

its a time stamped role during the cold war where the person is a highly trained secret agent of the british government.

how many black men were even in the british government during that time, or even to this day?

much less became agents and reached the level of best of the best of the elite?

some might claim that to be a racist opinion but its factually correct

having a black bond 007 agent makes about as much sense as having a male wonder woman or a white actor play the black panther

While we're at it, can we make Superman black? Will Idris be too busy playing Bond to do this?
