When does it start getting good? My wife and I watched like half the first season, and it was not good at all. We were really trying to see the appeal and we're incredibly disappointed. Just couldn't keep watching anymore.

I'm not a fan of shows that take time to "get good." Think of some of the real bangers of the last decade: Breaking Bad, the Shield, Dexter... They were all good from the jump. If you're wondering when a show's gonna turn the corner, it probably won't.

I think It is for sure

I don’t know if the season that won was it’s best but that’s too often how the Emmy’s work.

Funny, witty, and heart felt.

Watching all the little quirks the actors added and watching interviews with them outside of character makes it all the better.

The actress who plays Alexis is amazing. Put a ton of little things into her performance that are hilarious.

Yeah I feel that, and I agree. Especially with comedies. I mean, sure the first season of Parks and Rec isn't the best season, but it was funny enough to sit through.

We watched half of the first season of this show and never laughed at all. How did it get to multiple seasons?

It's a character driven show, so if the characters never click with you, it likely will never turn that corner. There really isn't a moment or episode where it turns a corner, though it does get better in season 2, but by then the viewer should know all the characters well enough. But if you've watched half the season and it hasn't clicked, it likely never will. And that's okay.

Not sure why some people seem to get upset that some people didn't like it. It happens.

I like Schitt's creek.

Looking at the shows it went up against, I don't really have a problem with it winning as many as it did. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Dead to me Me, Good Place, What we do in the shadows were the main competition and I feel like it was better than most of those.

Perhaps the better question is: Are the other comedy series really that poor?

I like the show, but it is not something I would consider an all time great.

It’s ok. Kinda gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

It's great. It is not an outright comedy show. It's actually a feelgood drama with comedy sprinkled in. It took us a little adjustment to that when we first started watching it, but once we understood the intent we came to love it.

I don't find it political or SJW. It's not preachy, nor is it trying to send a message. Maybe that changes after S3 (which is where we are currently at), but so far it has just been about a down on their luck family trying to find their way as people in a *low class* town whose son happens to be bisexual. They handle this deftly without coming off as making a point and forcing you to believe their ways.

It's a great show

The first episode.

The show is just different. You have to begin to understand the characters and the place of drama and comedy its coming from, which is pretty different.

Its almost like a heart warming Curb Your Enthusiasm at times.

Just keep watching. You either like the characters after 2 seasons or you don't.

I would give it 2 seasons, which would take like a week at most. You can easily watch 4-5 episodes in a night.

It’s funny but it annoys the shite out of me after a couple episodes. The behavior of them characters just makes me twitchy. My wife enjoyed it thoroughly and I liked it but it definitely wore out its welcome for me after a couple seasons.

By "too much gay" he means there is a gay relationship. So "too much gay" means "any gay at all". fricking wuss.

The gay romance was one the main story arcs of the last 2 seasons, so it was a bit more than just a gay relationship on the show. As someone else said though, it's not preachy or SJW in the least. It's presented in a wholesome, well meaning way.

Then you would have never watched Parks and Rec all the way through, for instance.

Quit watching after 4 episodes, it didn’t hold my interest at all

Should I give it another shot?

Couldn’t get into Community either

I'm puzzled by all the acclaim for Schitt's Creek, too. Isn't this the same show that used to follow Impact Wrestling on Spike TV seemingly in another lifetime? To think it's made it's way off a defunct network and is garnering Emmy wins seems a bit off. It couldn't have sounded any more low rent when the rasslin' announcers were pimping it on Spike. Is this even the same show?

I don't know the history of the show, can't remember the last time I watched Spike TV. My wife likes Schitt's Creek and recommended it. I watched four or five episodes and it didn't grab me at all. Unlike a lot of people that seem to have time to waste on watching seasons of a show hoping it gets better, I don't have that kind of patience. So no Schitt's, no Parks and Recs, no Community, no The Office or Big Bang Theory. I'll give a show a handful of episodes to catch my interest, if it doesn't, the odds are I won't come back to it.
