I read that it swept the major Emmy comedy awards last night. I've never seen an episode. Is it really that good?

It is. I think it has pretty broad appeal as well. Witty with some dark humor sprinkled in, feel good story lines, some romance, some pro-gay messaging, etc. Ultimately it's just a great cast with great chemistry that carries it.

Its a really good show.

You're going to get a lot of hate on this board for...reasons.

But it is a funny, witty, well constructed, well acted show.

There are possibly some political reasons it is as critically acclaimed as it is (LGBT stuff), but its one of the most enjoyable shows I've watched.

All the characters are well done with some really great mannerisms and so on.

I bailed after 2 episodes. Didn't think it was that funny. Perhaps it gets better.

Pretty good the first few seasons. Last few seasons had too much gay.

This says more about you than the show. You know it might take longer to understand the show, its characters, and its humor after two 23 minute episodes right?

It took me a few episodes as well. I liked it, then after a season or two I loved it.

its a slow burn. the first season is a bunch of one-line gags but then you start to realize there's a story arc that is building as you watch these unlikeable characters learn to function as decent human beings.

episodes are only like 20 minutes long each so you can sit back with a beer and burn through half a season in short order.

I almost bailed after the first few episodes. So glad I didn't. Once you learn the characters and their idiosyncrasies it really starts to shine.

Life is short; I'm not watching a full season of a TV show so I can prove to message board **** that I finally "got it" when it got interesting in season 2 or 3. Do you make that kind of commitment for all 7,886 new series available across all the streaming services? Says more about you. Go outside sometime.

Great show. Homophobes will have issues with it. Alexis & Stevie would be a bubbly, depressed 3some. Count me in!

Yeah, with so much content out there, if a show can’t interest me after watching two full episodes then I’m moving on - especially if it’s a sitcom.

I really, really enjoyed. It’s funny and warm, which has been great to watch with all of the crazy going on. And has some great, genuine feel-good moments.

The episodes are 23 minutes long. You can watch a full season in like 2-3 nights. If you give up on a show after 43 minutes, that's just weird. You cannot get a feel for any show after 1-2 episodes. shite Parks and Rec, which is all timer, takes almost 2 full seasons to hit its stride, and thats like 40 episodes.

And yes, if I commit to watch a show I watch it until its done.

Then you would have never watched Parks and Rec all the way through, for instance.

Beware of "comedies" loved by critics. They usually aren't funny.
