I saw it today and it actually doesn’t suck. The de-aging is a little weird at the beginning, but it didn’t take me out of the movie. All around, it feels well-paced and fun. The fenale costar doesn’t really outshine Indy or do any particularly bad “girl boss” movie sins other than a couple one-liners that didn’t fully land. All in all, a very enjoyable popcorn movie. MUCH better than crystal skull. Just a fun little adventure.

I did watch some critic reviews on YouTube that popped up on my home page, and always like Indiana Jones films, but wow, did the critic hate this movie. I mean there’s some NSFW commentary on this film, they really hated this one, and they are so lol, they were quite entertaining

I just got back from seeing it. I liked it. Way better than Crystal Skull and there was no woke BS shoved down your throat while watching it.

Agreed. I knew there was some CGI de-aging at the beginning so I paid special attention to it. It ranged from flawless to 2010-era video games. That there was such a wide range was curious, but the bad parts never lasted long enough to be more than mildly distracting. The shitty CGI for the Cavill's moustache in Justice League seemed more noticeable and out of place to me.

The story was fun and the action paced very well. While a lot of the Indiana Jones action sequences in the past require some suspension of disbelief, the action in this one was not outside the normal bounds and lacked that feel of gratuitousness I felt in Crystal Skull. While not nearly Temple nor Crusade, it's a worthy addition to the franchise and a solid conclusion for Harrison Ford's portrayal (if Disney decides to replace him with another actor).

It was worth seeing in the theater and apparently many others thought so as well as it was a nearly full theater (4pm on the 4th of July). I haven't been in a theater that full nor seen as many cars in the Movie Tavern parking lot since pre-COVID.

Saw it about 3:30 today and agree with all assessments. It was a fun go of it and enjoyed most everything. I will say that it was definitely a geriatric crowd.

Saw it today as well. I enjoyed it. I didn’t notice any woke stuff. It was just a solid action movie. It had the feel of the earlier Indy movies before Crystal Skull.

Yeah the theater was packed for me and my 10yo. We really enjoyed it. Like the story and the ending was good.

And what keeps those bullets from going through the table ? Or at least one bad guy moving slightly to the left or right and just shooting him anyways?

Massive oof, and that's not even the worst part of this mess.

You're arguing with yourself, nobody is trying to say that was a realistic scene

Anyone who saw the trailer saw it.

But keep giving Disney your money.

I just went and saw it today. It’s the first movie I’ve ever walked out of, after an hour or so.
I was hoping for some nostalgia from when I saw the original at the theater in 1981. It’s obvious Disney got their fingers into it. There’s no woke shite, just complete bs scenarios. How many chase scenes can there be in the first hour, at least three. I left after the chase scene of them riding in the little three wheel moped cycles, being chased by a Jaguar (car).
It just got old for me.
There was very little or pretty much no comic relief. There are no adventures within the first hour, just chase scene after chase scene.
I’ll watch it again when it comes out on streaming, but I just could not take it anymore.

None of the other movies had any bs scenarios.

It’s just that it got old quick. Even though Crystal Skull was pretty bad, it had some fun scenes, like at Area 51 (Easter egg of the Ark), him diving into the fridge during the atomic bomb test, etc.

This movie had nothing but chase scenes within the first hour or so, the Nazi train, him through the museum, him through the streets of NYC, the girl across the roof tops of NYC, and the chase of them while on the three wheel mopeds.

It’s just a terrible movie. There isn’t one single thing anyone can point to of quality in the movie. Story is bad, characters are awful, writing is trash, editing is trash, cgi is bad and the jokes are cringe.

Interesting

Most people I've talked to enjoyed the first 15 minutes, were plus/minus on the middle and really disliked the last third of the movie

Spoilers : Even the opening scene was bad although it was the best part. The alarm doesn’t ring in the mess hall only? The Nazi guy has a gun but tries to fight an unarmed Indy with a 2,000 year old artifact instead? Voler takes a blow to the head with a heavy piece of metal that doesn’t decapitate him and throws him from the top of a speeding train but he not only survives but doesn’t get a scratch? And this kind of stupidly gets worse as the movie progresses.

I’ve become a little turned off by so much shite existing in the same universe. We have Judeo-Christian stuff in one corner, Hindu stones in another, aliens in another, and time traveling in another.

I would rather have seen Indy go after the Holy Lance or some famous historical artifact (the scenes with the Idol in Raiders and the Cross in Crusade are among the best in the saga) than everything under the Sun having some kind of supernatural power.

i said in another thread there is a direct correlation between the quality of an indy movie and how cool the artifact he is chasing is.

the Lost Arc and the Holy Grail are super cool.

the hindu stones meh.
crystal Skulls super lame.

idk if you’re into video games but the plot to the first Uncharted game would have made the an amazing Indiana Jones movie

That’s it Sammy, those artifacts had a sense of mystery and possibility to them. There are thousands of years of religion/mythology surrounding them so it’s as if the actual objects could have this great adventure surrounding them yet most of the world never know it happened. With a giant alien ship or altering the events of history and television coverage of Indy as a fugitive it’s too far from what these movies are about. I like your uncharted comment as well, it’s much more in the purview of what Indiana Jones movies are.
