I like your uncharted comment as well, it’s much more in the purview of what Indiana Jones movies are.

Uncharted always felt like someone pitched an Indiana Jones video game and got told to kick rocks.

looking for El Dorado and then the twist of what el dorado actually is had such an Indy feel to it.

What a financial disaster this is for Disney/Lucasfilm...

Saw it tonight. Not what I was hoping for. Made me sad seeing Harrison Ford running around in scenes looking like a frail old man.

These are apparently not flying off the shelves.

Only $25 and one can be yours.

I was alright with her, she could act. The black chick… not so much. Not racist, but man I was glad when her character was no longer in front of the camera.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is poised to finish #2 at the box office this weekend behind Insidious: The Red Door. It's only projected to do between $25 million and $28 million. And next week is Tom Cruise's newest Mission: Impossible movie.

Lucasfilm is done, it's over.

lol, what's even left?

As to why the movie isn't doing well despite lack of wokeness -- nobody wanted it.

Hollywood and Disney in particular is going through this retard phase of 'people need to like what we make' instead of 'we need to make what people like'

What’s left? All Lucasfilm had was Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Willow.

This is incredible really. And beyond the relative ranking for the weekend is a significant percentage drop off (Assuming it made $60M the first weekend and $27.5M on the second).

The worldwide take for the Flash on the first weekend of release was supposedly $140M versus the $130M for Indy. Those are both disappointing numbers but the Flash was at least saddled with the possible excuse of Ezra (which I don't buy completely but other people clearly do).

If MI cleans up next weekend? The "people don't go to the box office for sequels argument" is further degraded - assuming it wasn't already by Top Gun.

idk if you’re into video games but the plot to the first Uncharted game would have made the an amazing Indiana Jones movie

The plot of this movie comes straight from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

that’s not ana regiment sequels make tons of money.

Indiana Jones has the following issues:
1. an 80 year old star in an action movie
2. the last sequel was terrible and Ford was younger then.
3. people hate all disney shite and assume it’s going to be woke.
4. it will be in Disney plus in 45 days so if your even in the fence and have Disney+ you’re gonna wait

Maybe. But I think people really liked the first 15 minutes.

I think that speaks to the bad choices that were made with characters after the start.

Agreed

There's something to this. Although a product like GoG was able to step outside of the negativity because they authentically gave the reigns to someone other than KK or her ilk.

Once the Indy plot leaked I think that damaged the sales. Whether or not that's fair is up for debate I suppose.

To at least some extent KK deserves the skepticism. Her response to Star Wars criticism was to say she didn't care about pleasing the older fans. That's bizarre IMO. Your job as KK is to care about pleasing your fans. Especially if other parts of Disney make money from selling them toys and vacations.

This is a possible thing. But really raises questions about the Disney model for business in general. Especially since the Disney streaming profitability is being called into question.

All of the explanations for failure seem like indictments of Disney's competence. Especially if they really spent around $300M making Indy.

I do think Disney+ hurts box offices but it hurts the box office after Disney stops getting the biggest cut of ticket sales.

This came on Disney+ this weekend and I finally saw it. It was pretty good. Way better than the last one and not quite as good as Temple of Doom. I didn't think it was woke at all. Nice ending to the series.

I started watching it Friday, got a little over halfway thru before I turned it off, and then finished it tonight….

Take all of that for what it’s worth. I thought it was Ok but nothing special. It was nice to see Indiana Jones again, and I’m glad that John Rys Davies and Karen Allen were able to get a paycheck. Otherwise, the story wasn’t especially compelling, and I didn’t really care
much about the other characters.
