The whole point of this hypothetical is Viserys and Rhaenyra admit to the parentage of the children and legitimize them anyway.
Sure, but they just wont ever do that if they are smart. Same way the rumors were abound about Joffrey but you simply refuse to acknowledge them publicly(and then try and kill all the bastards in secret).
Also, by marrying Daemon Rhaenyra also bolsters the Valeryon House by having his daughters kept in the lineage.
Frankly, there is no real scenario for how or why the Valeryons would side with any other family right now given how intertwined and connected they are to the throne and highest stations in the kingdom. The Hightowers offer nothing of the sort.
Also, I think Jace is older but Baela is pretty much the same age(as is her twin sister Rhaena). Theoretically she is second in line after Jace now.

I know that. I was just doing a hypothetical when it was discussed if the king legitimized the kids what would happen. I now realize Epic was just saying Viserys is saying they are legitimate by not doing anything.

If HotD follows the same season set up as GoT, Ep 8 should be a fun set up episode, and then all hell will be let loose in Ep 9 -- assuming a good dragon fight -- and I can't wait.

It’s so lazy, they’re covering decades, having to do time jumps, change actors and they can’t even fill up an episode with meaningful content. It’s sad really.

I thought Jace was killed with the rest of the GF

If you didn't think that episode was filled with content that's your problem. That thing was packed with stuff going on.

Are you one of those people whose TV screen was so dark you just assumed nothing was happening in the episode because you couldn't see it?

Daemon implied they did.
Only to his brother the King as he wanted to rattle his chains.

As portrayed I'm not sure how you can say Otto lied.
Because Otto pushed a false narrative with info he gained from a young boy who saw nothing except for Daemon leaving a brothel. If Otto had so much honor he would have found the evidence but he knew for his agenda evidence was not needed just a rumor to ruin the princess and help position his house since he pimped out his daughter to the King.
So yes he lied because he had no evidence for the rumor he started.

MadKing is just pulling straws at this point because he’s wanted this show to fail since before it aired. He’s been shitting on it since before Day 1.
Now he’s having to literally manufacture something to rage over.

No shite. Even my wife, who half-arse follows along in most episodes, was like "That was a good episode!"

Once the King is dead his word doesn't mean crap. Again, precedent had been set already with Rhaenys getting passed over. It is Targ custom that no woman can rule.
But that was the lord going to the lords before naming an heir.
Which is a different situation

No it isn't. Rhaenys getting outvoted does not mean it is now precedent.
The show changed it to simplify it, but technically, Rhaenys was spurned twice and the vote was the third time that Primogeniture was cited in the succession to the Iron Throne.
The first was the children of Aegon the Uncrowned's (grandson of Aegon the Conqueror) daughters who were passed over for Jaehaerys I (Aegon's younger brother).
The second was Rhaenys being passed over following her father's (Aemon) death in favor of Baelon (Viserys I's father and Rhaenys' uncle).
The third was the vote held by Jaehaerys I (beginning of HOD), which placed Viserys as heir to Jaehaerys I instead of Rhaenys's son Laenor. This was consolidated on the show to combine the two.
Following the Dance of Dragons, the vote was cited as the accepted precedence that males skip over females in line for the Iron Throne. (which follows longstanding English royal tradition/law until right before Prince George was born)

Also, in the book, Rhaenys was a distant third in the vote. The vote was closer between Viserys and Laenor.
ETA: I don't know why I didn't bother finishing your post before posting mine.

I'm curious how far they go with this show. With the title they could go right on through the dance, the blackfyres, dunc and egg, all the way to the mad king if they wanted to and ratings kept supporting it.
If the fat man is going to keep working on other projects instead of finshing the song of ice and fire books, I want a Tales of Old Valyria show.

Right, but in any of these situations did the sitting king name his heir as the female who should've been in line?
This all comes down to the Hightowers pretending that the rest of the realm won't accept Rhaenyra, when in reality the Hightowers don't want the rest of the realm to accept Rhaenyra because they want power. They could've accepted her, and backed her 100% and no one else would've done shite about it because they'd get slaughtered by the Targaryens, Velaryons, and the Hightowers, who were the 3 most powerful houses at the time.

I think They end when the dance is over.

Probably, but they have some really decent material written already for the Blackfyre rebellions and the Dunc and Egg novels.
