cause Breitbart told you to melt so you melted
You just accused me of doing the very thing you ascribed to me. . .all because you don't like the source.

Bring?
Sansa was raped by a man she was forced to marry literally because she was seen as property in a patriarchal society.
We saw the same themes in Daeny’s
Story as well.
This isn’t new.

Nah, it’s when the producers and actors tell us exactly what they’re doing so we can avoid watching woke bullshite

No one is questioning whether or not this show will explore those themes, it's the melty outrage and whining as if this is some new departure for this series, when it's anything but.

And she literally kills her oppressor's and breaks through those patriarchal dynamics to become queen of the north. ...
The thing is they didn't have Breitbart around telling them to be outraged about the "woke" storytelling.

what a weird statement. i'm conservative but i read huffpo, time, cnn, daily wire, breitbart, nyt, and wapo.
breitbart has it's slanted views, but it's kind of a silly declaration because they all do.
Ezra Miller charged with Felony Burglary in Vermont - Breitbart
you're saying you're not going to believe that because Breitbart posted it?
i'm sure you're speaking in hyperbole, but it's a weird flex.

Arya's entire arc features her defying gender stereotypes and expectations in her society

Brienne/Yara/Ygritte all reflect the different levels of equality and freedom(lack therof) for woman in different cultures and most defy gender stereotypes or expectations of their cultures
Right but it’s done in a way that is natural to the story and DOES NOT need to completely emasculate or destroy strong male characters in the process. It does not need someone screaming buzzwords so everyone knows how virtuous they are. You can have these themes as long as it is a good story and well written and not done just for the sake of keeping up with the popular fad of the moment.

Sounds like we might be getting a lot of male nudity and relationships instead

I don’t think I’ll be watching much film and tv from this decade.

Because if they didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t catch it. Like you missed it in the first series apparently

Maybe one day they will realize their audience is NOT their industry and media peers. Saying this stuff out loud rather than letting the theme speak for itself is just pure virtue signaling
I think it's 30% virtue signaling and 70% reputation protection. They know it's kind of dog shite, so they say these things so they can then turn around and say trolls are why it failed.

If this thread is proving anything, it's that the only way most of you seem to realize when themes of patriarchy and misogyny are explored in things like GoT is when Breitbart tells you you need to be outraged lol...
If you don't think/didn't realize Dany/Sansa/Arya/Brienne/Yara/Margary/Ygritte/Lyanna/Caitlin and almost every other female were all characters that's story was, at times, if not featured predominately for some, used to illustrate or challenge the patriarchal structure of the world they live in, you simply didn't pay attention to anything beyond "dur, dragons, swords, and boobies"

The show was put together by Martin himself, he literally picked the showrunner and has been incredibly hands on in every part of the development, including writing. Much more so than GoT.
Personally I could give a shite if the triggered brigade here watches it, I just find the reactions amusing considering how incredibly overt the themes of misogyny and patriarchy were in the OG.

Muh patriarchy and misogyny are fine to include because the show is set thousands of years ago and when we think of that in reality, society was much different.
But when you intentionally make a show to dismantle the patriarchy and emasculate all the male characters, that’s when people have a problem with it

My main thing is it seems that shows/films that start with this kind of publicized rhetoric from the actors/writers/etc. all end up being mediocre at best.
